OKAY, so. basically a lot of people have been mentioning cleaning up & improving the forum lately, and this is an attempt to bring all these ideas together in one thread.
1. links to page numbers at the bottom, as well as the top, of each page in a thread. 2. "edit post" button on posts, able to be used by either the poster, or a moderator. 3. "delete post" button, same idea. 4. user-personalised signatures at the bottom of each thread, for quotes etc, 500 letter word count, no HTML (or maybe HTML allowed if picture/font sizes can be restricted) 5. ability to use HTML in forums to post pictures, links etcetera 6. "ideas" "player notes" and "strategies" sections modified to show the most recent contributions alongside the most popular. 7. "problems and bugs" section created feel free to add more, etc. |
39 people think this is a good idea

at 3:40 PM, Wednesday May 7, 2008 EDT ok so this seems to be trying to bring most of whats been said before into a single topic?
it's pretty hit or miss wether this takes off or not, but lets hope it does. I don't think you should be able to delete posts, only edit and not use backspace, sorry for this but when you need to refer to previous convo's etc, changing your own word is lame and will happen, so the edit can come but only in the form of ''additions'' to posts. and no sigs atm, everything else is a VOTE |

at 3:50 PM, Wednesday May 7, 2008 EDT I just don't understand why we don't use one of the free forums that have all this functionality already built in. Perhaps I'm missing something, though.
Either way, item 1 should be as hard as copying the code from part of the page to the other. |

at 3:51 PM, Wednesday May 7, 2008 EDT yeah, i agree about no deleting actually, moderators can delete the content of a post through the edit function if it's too offensive / off-topic etc.
i still think people should be able to edit their own words, of course a couple of people would abuse this but in general it would just be used to correct spelling mistakes, delete the contents of a particularly drunken post, etc. having a line in italics at the bottom of a post saying "post edited by (moderator/user's name) at (time)" might be useful. |

at 4:06 PM, Wednesday May 7, 2008 EDT Editing is a standard, regardless of how it is used, whether it be corrupt or not.
Since all of the more important changes/ additions are already mentioned, here's what I've got in mind for perks: 1. User ratings. I'm seen stars as a form of rating people, dunno wtf it would really be productive for, and would only be based on forum prescence/ whatever. 2. Bold, Italiscised, and Underline options would be nice too. Also, text size and color is another suggestion. 3. Polls would be cool as an option for posts! As previously stated, THESE AREN'T OF PRIORITY!!!! just cool stuff to have. Also, Dicelord tried to set up a forum for kdice that used one of those free sites but was promptly banned for spamming everyone about it. |

at 4:08 PM, Wednesday May 7, 2008 EDT lol, also, I was about to make this an idea as well! nice ninja Sophie.
Another idea that struck me and isn't priority but seems very, very easy to implement and is another standard: POST COUNT!!!! I'd have thousands by now! |

another non-essential would be a bit of user-customisable space on profiles so that users could write a little about themselves etc. |

I think there is a community here with enough knowledge to run one. Hell I have a free SQL server that we can use and I would even install phpbb 3.0 for you if needed. I think this community could greatly improve with the some good fourm changes. WAKE UP RYAN!!!! THE PEOPLE WANT A GOOD FORUM |
