A few things to address on this post:

1) Would have to agree with Dude here. Jurgs was one of the few that took shannons side. Pre usually pretty bright guy, but pretty much entirely wrong on his post.
2) Troy was out of line if that is a true chat cut/paste but Lani has a history of stirring it up so not sure how much of this is out of context
3) irredescent whoevers alt you are, should know better with that language in a forum post.

Well put though, gave me an insight of what I've been missing, wish I knew what the mods have to say about that Shannon guy though lol.

Oh and @Jurgen, you can't say 99% of the players would agree for the ban of Shannon, it's all different perspectives and each player despises someone different, you can't just throw a statistic out there and expect everyone to agree with it imo. peace out

Free markets work well for some commodities, but fail miserably for others.

As anyone taking an entry level economics course would know, free markets provide only optimal (or at least Pareto-efficient) results if a set of necessary conditions can be satisfied. These include the absence of externalities - costs (and occasionally benefits) that affect people/organizations who were not "responsible" for the activity that brought about these costs.

Externalities commonly arise because of unclear rules or rights, especially property rights. In our case, this site has a set of rules against cheating/PGAs, harassment and inappropriate language - but I doubt that any two players would agree on a common definition for any of these; so moderators are needed to interpret these rules, guide the community and let people enjoy the game without unduly compromising the ability of others to enjoy it as well.

1) Grow some skin regarding wordings in chat. You sissys really should have taken classes in alt.flame or alike.
2) How comes a person banned for a long time and seemingly not active for the time being is still of such importance to this group?
3) 99% of the players don't give a shit about anything on this site. They don't read the forum, don't know the rules and don't care for points. They drop in for a few games and are gone again. Some stay without much ambition never moving beyond 100 tables.
4) The 1% caring has 10% of the accounts and makes 100% of the leaderboard (minimum). As always in societies, silent majorities opinion is hard to assess.
5) Free markets don't work. Any society doing good now has a social market economy. There are differences in the number of rules, but they have rules and persons enforcing them. We got only very few rules here and a few mods to enforce them. This is why this site is still working to some degree. If the rules and mod-actions were not acceptable, the 99% non-addicted players would have left a long time ago. The way it is they don't notice the moderation and are happy. Keep it that way.
