yeah same here when I got invited to the parallel competition for extremely good players.

As a player: joining tournaments with my phone while I was driving. I knew I would definitely miss game 1 but if I hurried, I could still catch game 2.

As a mod: 1) staying up until the end of the month several times (5 AM my time) 2) once or twice: monitoring 5 different tables at once (on 3 computers with screens next to each other)

Ok I admit I had a girl from Europe that wanted to join me on a vacation and I said no, and then thought about that more than a couple times.

Also, I got perma-banned by a xsketch mod in my first game over there after many years of extended bad behavior on kdice and found that more amusing than I should have.

I was also a bit disappointed not to have been in the trip to visit RND in Florida IRL.

Also, I thought Gurgi was a listless solipsistic dbag teenager but mostly failed to dethrone him in my few efforts when he had 3-4 sycophants on the board willing to shout me out, and I was way past my prime of caring about anything but big words.

But any obsessions related to winning I find laughable.

It began as just a fun way to spend 10 minutes or so here and there between classes. Even though I found a lot a players immature and annoying there was something quite catchy about kdice. Soon I found myself playing during lectures, missing meals, staying up through the night drinking coffee as endless strings of tournaments and games became the norm. A passionate doctor in training, I eventually flunked out of school. My diet consisting of mostly coffee and ramen noodles, my health began diminishing as well. After years of struggling to get me away from this addiction, my wife and life partner of 7 years eventually gave up and left. Even my dog lost interest and wandered away one day. I couldn't hold a job, and now find myself stealing wireless from a Mcdonalds off the highway on my junk computer that will surely go any day now. Kdice I love you (cough, splutter, weeze).
