Ryan, I think table limits are needed again?

With all the additions of kill bonuses and more tournies, more people should have more points.
I know it might be tough because there's so few players now but I think institute a point limit for the zeros for sure, of say 500 or 1000? and then a limit on the 100s of say 2000? also unrelated: Thanks a bunch for fixing the pw reset issue, but your unban on my account didn't seem to stick, as I still cannot sit, chat, post in forums, or change avatar... it says You are restricted from playing Your ability to chat has been removed |

at 7:45 AM, Thursday June 12, 2014 EDT The nature of the game is really different on the low vs. high tables. If you're not invested in alliances and, for lack of a better word, politics of the upper tables you just get your ass kicked and you end back up on the low tables anyway. I'm not, and so I stay at the low tables.
It's not like gpokr where you can bully with a big bank at the low tables. High point earners still lose on the lower tables. And, for the most part, the high point earners tend to be friendly at the low tables. I don't see a need for point limits. plus, it takes forever to get a table these days. I can spent my whole working day waiting... |

at 2:37 AM, Friday June 13, 2014 EDT I said this befor in another thread but willingly repeat it... There is several aspects to point limits and I agree that more players at 2k or 5k will reduce the otf-stuff and insert some 500-spirit into those tables. Similar to the 0-spirit you find on 500 towards the end of the month (like it or not).
Staka has a point though that if there is just me logged in with 5k, I can't play at all if limits are enforced. That'd be shit. So my suggestion is to have table limits but only enforce them if there is at least 10 persons (that number can be discussed) logged in that are above the limit. That way, if enough players with good score are around, the higher tables will get filled. If you are a lonely chap having all the points for yourself, you can still play for fun. |

at 11:41 AM, Friday June 13, 2014 EDT This problem will never get resolved because most of the old time players refuse to acknowledge the fact that half of the "accounts" on 2-5k are just Proxies used to funnel points.
If you forced more people to sit 2-5k you would force people to switch accounts to play lower tables again. If REALLY enforce cheating (ban pretty much everyone in the 2-5k and all their alts) you could enforce a new set of table limits. However until drastic measures are taken the best method to allow people to have fun is to allow them to sit at whatever table they want. |

at 10:35 AM, Saturday June 14, 2014 EDT Basically, I think we need a return to tables scaling up.
remember during elo, when at the beginning of the month there were only 1500 tables, and they would scale as elo of population increased. same deal, so what staka is talking about makes sense. |

at 5:50 PM, Saturday June 14, 2014 EDT easy fix to this problem, no table limits, everyone buys in automatically with max points they can, eg. you have 50 points you buy in with 50 you have 2001 you buy in with 2000, no one can win more points from anyone than they put in, no table limits, anyone can play with anyone, maybe this causes new problems i haven't thought of but could work

at 9:31 PM, Saturday June 14, 2014 EDT Smoke you shit me to tears with your cheating talk. I'm starting to wonder if you even know what a proxy account is.
What you are saying is half of the accounts at the 2k / 5k tables is one person logging into multiple accounts at a time and playing the same table. I'm not sure how you can even make this claim given you BARELY sit at those tables, but I can tell you it's ridiculous. I pretty much play high tables exclusively. When you first sit at the high tables you think everyone is teamed up against you and it sucks and everyone else there must be OTF. What that usually means is you read the play poorly, thought everyone was just going to leave you alone because you were the biggest, and then complain when people truce against you. It MUST be PGA or OTF because WHY ELSE would people truce against you, right? What the high tables are ACTUALLY like is a handful of ego maniacs who for the most part at one time or another ALL have people they hate and pge. After a while if you take your blinkers off you realize that everyone isn't out to fuck YOU because you are new, everyone is out to fuck EVERYONE when it suits them. For the millionth time quit bitching about cheating please. I get ganged up on probably more than anyone on this site and I don't think cheating is a problem at all. The biggest problem this site has is 500 people with 2k saying "won't start" when asked to sit a 2k or 5k. No shit it won't start, because 500 of you are sitting at the zero tables with 25k. Take point limits off tourneys so you can play whatever you want, that way if you are the only guy with 20k and there's a freeroll hogging all the players you can still play dice. Put point limits on the lower tables so we don't have people with 20k sitting at the zeros. If you don't care about points and want to keep playing zeros then make an alt.... or better yet if you don't care about the points PLAY 2k/5k! |
