lets be honest: the only people who will be interested in winning this contest are total pointwhores. so make them do something that hurts. wait until the last day of the month, then say whoever gets their score closest to 1337 wins the membership. and to be eligible, the player must lose at least 20k on the last day.

i think it would be hilarious. i could laugh at:

1) the bunched of panties of a lot of pointwhores to sacrifice their current points to get $15 worth of wayyyy more free points in the next 3 months.
2) the mad chaos of 5k tables on the last day as there could be dozens of 5k games where multiple players are knowingly tanking. (wait, do people still play 5k?)
3) the mad dash to fine-tune to 1337 while throwing your competition off from fine-tuning their score.

Monte that sounds interesting, the idea of having people choose between medalling or something unique. I'll consider that one. It'd still require skill with the criteria you mentioned, so I'll see what I can come up with as an actual event.

das, with regards to the Phoenixing, I remember Phoenix well from Elo days, and it was certainly amusing - I know I participated in some of the runs. I'll try work out how we'd do that one.

give 20 bucks to the guy with the funniest contributor badge.

You'd win hands down though.

1) only get 2nd place/ (no first places)

2) most kills

3) no tournies

The 2nd place one is interesting but really prone to abuse I guess - I just feel it'd result in really obvious 1-2 PGA'ing, someone chasing a medal and someone chasing the $.

The kills one is pretty good, once again I'm concerned about abuse but I guess that's going to occur with everything. Not as bad with kills since people can flag out before the kill.

Did you mean these all individually or as a giant mega challenge, 2nd place finishes + kills + no tournaments?

I know some players like Monkey already boycott tournaments and do okay, but in general most people that medal high tend to be in the Members Tournaments etc. Could make it the highest monthly finish without any tournament entries, something like that!
