at 11:46 AM, Wednesday August 1, 2012 EDT now although I agree that cb relies too much on membership points to win a gold, I think people whine way too much about the importance of membership points.
You have to be really good to get a ppt (points per tournament) of 1500 (so 2000/1750 - 500/250 entry fee) average. That means you have to finish top 3 for most of your tournaments. I think cb must have played over 60 of them which is insane of course but that's about 100k...in 60 hours Anyone who complains that members get the easy points are just whiners who don't realise there would be no Kdice if Ryan didn't get his $100 a month from the memberships to pay for the server cost. I actually agree that there would be other ways to reward members but since Ryan doesn't feel like coding anything better, this is what we got and this is how it's been for over 3 years. If people still haven't adapted to the competition from people who play members, that's just hilarious. Apart from cb, there are maybe 3 people who gain 20k from members and about 10 with 5-10 k gains. Most even donate their gains on 2k or 5k lol. So is all that so hard to overcome by playing regular tables only? I agree that the 2k or 5k aren't always active but they are definitely more active than 100 hours a month. You can play at least 2 games in an hour so that's a potential gain of 5000 or 12000 points an hour for 2 and 5k. |

at 11:55 AM, Wednesday August 1, 2012 EDT Jurgen shut up, you don't have to be good when the average player entry is 7 and top 6 pay with 2500 bonus points added in so 80+% of the players are walking away with positive points.

at 2:50 PM, Wednesday August 1, 2012 EDT Sam feel free to join the clueless whiner committee if you want
I'm not saying the member system is perfect but I think all you whiners should shut up about it being unfair free points for members, stabbing, cheating, lags, losing 8v7, noobs being voted off by otf , all sooo unfair....for whiners again, ceasar's crazy shedule to play all members aside, member points aren't such a huge deal. More points are being gained by otf play than by member tournies Of course you don't have to be good to be in payout when only 7 or 8 join. But who the fuck is whining about those peanuts. Someone in 6 or 5 gets a few hundred points for playing half an hour. Any whiner with some skills can win just as much on a table in that same amount of time. let's take the top 25 of last month, I wish iumentum had finished his script so I could give all data and show how much you whiners are bitching for no big deal ceasar: 2nd, gained roughly 125k from members mattz: 3rd; 58k april: 6th 20k @Miketamb: 9th 22k Alex sfb 15th 14k joero14 16th 7k @pinktaco 18th 27k MC 20th 15k I'm sorry if I'm wrong by 1 or 2 k here and there but those numbers should be pretty accurate you honestly can't compete with those few players anymore? yes 675k is being pumped in the point inflation from member tournament each month. 1050k comes from normal tournaments A good estimate based on 10-12 games running on average means around 3000k comes from the 70 points inflation in each regular game the truth is, if it weren't for member points, a lot less 2k and 5k games would be played, especially in the first half of the month when members can gain points easier. I'll stick to my beliefs that over half of the points gained in member tournaments are simply donated to the top players just the same way as they otf to get the points from the non member noobs. Only the good member players actually make points in the members Conclusion: you can argue about the flaws of the member system but basically it's not worth whining about. If you want to read the long explanation that shows I'm right, feel free to read my wall of text |

at 3:35 PM, Wednesday August 1, 2012 EDT In the last year, 9 months have been won by members. Two were won by murti. One was won by Curtis (MaskotCC), who got a boost and could play members tourneys from about the 10th of the month on.
Take that whatever way you will. |

at 4:46 PM, Wednesday August 1, 2012 EDT that's an excellent observation Chloe. I'm not sure but I think the ratio for non member wins was higher before and it seems logic that the number is getting lower as the number of active players (and 2k and 5k games) further decreases.
I still think that it's not unfair to give members an edge like this. Take any online game with rankings and memberships and you'll see important bonuses for members. It's actually a basic commercial strategy for game sites: build up a pool of free players and try to get as many people to spend real money I agree that member tournaments give a big advantage if you compete for top3 but it's of zero importance if you want to go for top 25. Look at Murti, he almost got 2 non member accounts in top 25 on top of getting gold. I'll keep adding that I also agree that the system can be improved. I've suggested the proposal to Ryan that I think Monte made to allow members to play the tournament for free or for a reduced fee but also allow non members the pay the 500 and join. It's not my fault that things haven't been coded in the last 3 years though. Well there is one minor change that Ryan actually did make and it helps to remove the advantage considerably. Just like Curtis, you can pay $5 and boost yourself into the members. |
