At his latest appearance he said the following:
"We had reversed the recession, avoided a depression, gotten the economy moving again," Obama told a crowd in Decorah, Iowa. "But over the last six months we've had a run of bad luck." Obama listed three events overseas -- the Arab Spring uprisings, the tsunami in Japan, and the European debt crises -- which set the economy back. So basically his latest story is now; "I fixed the recessions but then Egypt; Japan; and Europe screwed it up." This man is a complete and utter failure... Instead of manning up and correcting his failed policies; he has decided to go down in flames while pointing the finger at everyone else. http://campaign2012.washingtonexaminer.com/blogs/beltway-confidential/obama-i-reversed-recession-until-bad-luck-hit |

at 2:04 PM, Wednesday August 17, 2011 EDT jcp, can you explain in what ways you think Obama has helped end the recession?
I ask because I feel there is a disconnect between my understanding of how a recovery happens and your understanding. I am hard pressed to find any policy of Obama/Pelosi/Reid that helped the recovery. In fact; I'm pretty certain that everything they have done is exactly the opposite of what should have been done. |

at 2:21 PM, Wednesday August 17, 2011 EDT As far as I can tell, Obama has been spending us into oblivion, and making plans for unprecedented deficits and debt, which was already ridiculously high. The worst part is Obamacare, which by itself will bankrupt the country. I still find it hard to believe that Congress actually passed that monstrosity.
Obama is clearly way too inexperienced for the job, which should have been clear to more people before he was elected. Because of that inexperience, and the fact that he was created out of thin air as a politician by the Chicago Democratic machine, he is now easily manipulated by the Democratic party, which really means that Pelosi and Reid have much more power than they should. Bill Clinton was a much better president than Obama. Night and day better. If someone put out a referendum repealing the two term limit just this once so that Clinton could have a 3rd term, I'd vote yes. I might even choose him over the slate of Republican candidates. But the difference is that Bill Clinton was actually pretty fiscally conservative in his actions. He had the experience and skill to negotiate with his own party, not just pushing through their agenda blindly. Obama has none of that. He's fumbling his way through this, doing what he's told by the far left, and screwing up all over the place. This has to stop. We deserve better. And just about anything would be better than this. |

Bill Clinton before divided government attempted HillaryCare; which isn't much different from ObamaCare. |

There's way way more to worry about in our spending than getting healthcare to those who need it. |

at 2:58 PM, Wednesday August 17, 2011 EDT I realize there was a Republican congress for much of that time, and certainly that limited his options. Maybe it would have turned out much worse if the Democrats had the majority. That's why I'd prefer gridlock most of the time, it stops the huge swings one way or the other.
I still would say that Clinton had MUCH more negotiation experience and skill than Obama, and was a much better president. I'm saying this even though I disagreed with much of Clinton's platform, to make the point that Obama is much worse in comparison. The government right now is just so far out there, it needs to be reined in. Obama just simply doesn't know what he's doing, and it's hurting our future. |

I don't see how Obama wins an election with polls like this. Also jp, I'm interested to hear your take on what you think Obama has done to help the economic situation. |
