Or President is a loser...

At his latest appearance he said the following:

"We had reversed the recession, avoided a depression, gotten the economy moving again," Obama told a crowd in Decorah, Iowa. "But over the last six months we've had a run of bad luck." Obama listed three events overseas -- the Arab Spring uprisings, the tsunami in Japan, and the European debt crises -- which set the economy back.

So basically his latest story is now; "I fixed the recessions but then Egypt; Japan; and Europe screwed it up."

This man is a complete and utter failure... Instead of manning up and correcting his failed policies; he has decided to go down in flames while pointing the finger at everyone else.

Monte; I think you are over-reacting. Boogy isn't someone I hate; I just disagree with him. He calls me evil; but he is prone to hyperbole. I really doubt anyone is losing there mind over this; it's just a joust in an intellectual sense. I don't think it needs a referee.

IMO, the dept of education doesn't help further education at all. Offer a cash prize for someone/company who can come up with an easy/effective way to educate children. Hopefully something that incorporates a small technologic education hubs in counties that allow for kids to go through education self paced. Hell, bill gates and Dell have been on charity sprees lately, find some incentive for them to do it.

Military spending doesn't bother me that much, as long as it puts people to work and doesn't involve fucking ridiculous and impractical devices and unnecessary wars.

Reaaaaaaaally need to reduce spending on entitlements.

Ethanol subsidies are retarded. They need to use the grain/crops to go toward something useful food wise instead of something that is useless fuel wise.

I agree with you fcuku. I would like to see private innovation introduced to the education system.

I'd love to propose this. Why not allow parents to choose where to spend their public school taxes. They can either spend it at their traditional public school; or spend it at a private school of their choosing.

This would allow the public system and private system to compete on a level playing field.

Then we can see which one teaches kids better; and parents will be able to choose what is best for their child.

Or just start a moonshine brand called 'subsidy' and make it cheap as shit.

how much money on average is taxed from a family to send a kid through high school?

i mean, i love the idea of letting a family choose where their money goes, but private schools can be mad expensive. the one i went to is $20k for day students, $40k for boarders. (my dad taught there, so it was a free ride. bitches.)

Well where there is demand there will be supply. At the moment only rich families demand private schools; so there are private schools that are catering to that market.

When the dollars open up and are allowed to be spent in that market; a new tier or private schools would be born that would cater to that price level.

That would work fantastically in urban areas, but rurally, there really aren't enough children there to warrant building a full scale private school. If you do allow them to choose where their educational money goes, it could lead to a lot of defunct districts and kids traveling about an hour to gO to school in the morning, but I still like the idea.

I'd love to send my kids to one of the local private schools. It's about $12K per year, so I'm not going to be affording that. But, if I could get $4,000 per year in "education money" going towards that, it might be more reasonable. Hell, I pay $7K a year for daycare per kid.
