I should make clear that in this example the speculator is shorting silver.

Why is it that you think that extremist, fringe, and hardcore are negatives?

If wanting a less controlling government and more personal freedoms is extremist in this day and age; and maybe you are right; then I wear that badge with honor.

Ok let's get back on topic. I posted an article quoting Obama's own economist's basically stating that the stimulus has little to no effect.

Basically we spent trillions for nothing. 280k per job created; absolutely; ridiculous.

BO why don't you explain the economic theory behind this spending; and why it doesn't seem to be working. I mean this is your theory right? Go defend it.

My prediction was that all this stuff would not work. The numbers are coming in and they look to confirm everything I had said; but you would rather ignore them.

What say you.

Also explain to me why a so called extremist software engineer libertarian from NYC is schooling you in finance and economics.

The truth is; you; just like the Fed Chairman; have no idea why things are still bad. They are completely dumbfounded by the current situation and so are you.

Dead if you want to discuss a different topic then make a new thread, quit trying to derail the topic.

Also off topic (but you goaded me) any profit made from speculation is literally money you stole from someone who worked for it. Prove to me otherwise and I would be less disgusted by the financial sector (especially nonsense like day trading).

Obvious follies like the above are one of the reasons half the world became communist last century. Odds are if capitalism keeps going the way it's going it'll be replaced by something new, although not unlike what we have today.

honest question: does speculation include investments in start-up businesses? because they do all the legwork to become successful, but they are dependent on your money to get off the ground.
