at 11:57 PM, Sunday May 1, 2011 EDT Why the fuck would they withdraw troops? Osama most likely has had to go through dialysis multiple times a year for the past decade. He was an old, dying man who served merely as a fundraiser for Al Qaeda. Now that he is dead, the money he was sitting on will go directly to terrorist groups and his family. If anything, this will lead to a surge of terrorism and an INCREASE in troops.

at 11:59 PM, Sunday May 1, 2011 EDT It matters, if for nothing else, for the symbolism. Same as when Obama got elected; even if he didn't do the things he promised, the symbolism of a black president was worth something. Who knows, maybe fewer troops get deployed and killed? I like that idea.

at 1:05 AM, Monday May 2, 2011 EDT Marxism: "I don't see why this is reason to celebrate. Celebrating a man's death is puerile revenge and is shameful. Our foreign policy isn't going to change, our military isn't going to change, and terrorism isn't going to change, so what is there to celebrate? Maybe we should reflect on the reasons why Osama bin Laden masterminded terrorist attacks against US interests worldwide, and why others have done so for many of the same reasons. Perhaps we could ponder the notion that, despite his bloody legacy, Osama bin Laden have a point in that US global hegemony is largely a harmful force?"
Why not celebrate his death; justice is served. Let's not forget that this guy planned and executed the end of 3,000 innocent lives. If you want to sympathize with them and their backwards culture then go right ahead. |

this is not justice, this is a guy dying in a firefight. this is not justice for the same reason a lynchmob is not justice |

no trail found place. and like it or not, as obama said; "we went to war against al qaida", therefore he is the leader of the enemy. as an example, if a soviet team took hitlers bunker after WW2 killed hitler, that would not be justice. convicting hitler in nurnberg would be. |
