new mod recommendation: cool g

this is based on the assumption that we should have as many mods as we can get, given that they are trustworthy.

he plays a lot of games, he prides himself on his reputation, and hes actually not too much of a pointwhore (i would know). he says he'll be around for a long time yet. i think he will be impartial. and i think he will do a good job policing not just the top top table drama, but also the rigorous ins and outs of daily modship.

we need more mods, what with there always being a handful M.I.A. because modship is a thankless brutal job. the larger rotation we can get, the better. and cool g would be a good addition to the rotation imo.

oh and I am planning ahead in case someone recommends Yodel for mod:

-1 for Yodel since he doesn't want to cheat or do blatant favoritism

-1 from all my alts too

I agree olk, it's something that will always be a comment you could make for any player that collected a few medals.

You really have to trust people on their good intentions and I am sure, once you become a mod and are motivated to do it right, you will put yourself above that.

I banned players like mattz and vash, even though I like them. But it's totally not fun to do.

Yeah, I have to agree that being 14 could be a hinderance. And he should be watched in secret for a while... if he does blow up after losing, he's probably not a good candidate. I should know, as I blow up sometimes. lol

Blowing up after losing is something I am really good at. Furthermore I am too lazy to memorize people I pge and I've been around for a very long time. Still I don't think I'd be a good candidate.

To the one discussed here: I don't know the discussed ID. However, if someone is losing his temper after losing a game or if a person is under 18, I'd clearly vote against having him as a mod.

I'm pretty sure theres 1 or 2 mods here that blows up "occasionaly". Don't really see why this is such an important criteria.

sure a few more mods would be good and

sure theres plenty to do,

but still im against inflationary mod appointments. with an increasing number of mods statistics are against us in that the likelihood of having bad mods inbetween increases.
personally given the choice I would rather have less mods than more mods with some crooked ones inbetween. also, remember the holyharlequin disaster.
iow, please take a thorough look at ppl before appointing them.

that said, i have no personal experience with cool g, he comes up clean in my embarrassingly exhaustive personal pge watchlist records, which means that either hes a fair player or happens to hang around mostly in tourneys and 2k and above whioch means Ive never run into him.

either way, i would suggest you take a closer look at cool g's reviews. even if you substract a good two (unavoidable?) thirds of the usual revenge and harrassment reviews you are still left with a considerable number of negative reviews, including negative reviews from established players that I respect.

judging from these reviews indeed there seems to be a (lately increasing) trend of accusations of favoritism / at least perceived PGAing.
not sure how well the appointment of cool g as a mod would sit with these people who've PGEed him for sketchy or outright objectionable behavior.

his behavior in this thread shows not only that he seems to have an unhealthy craving to become a mod, it also seems to indicate that contrary to his name he isnt really as "cool" as suggested by his name and useful for being a mod, as some have already pointed out.
