KDice spinoffs

I don't remember if there ever was a good thread created to group all proposed KDice variations.

If there was (I vaguely remember one), can someone please link me?

If not, I feel like starting one here

***SOME GUIDELINES TO KEEP THINGS SLIGHTLY ORGANISED***

*if you have an idea, give it a good short name and start your post with it

*if you want to comment or post suggestions for an idea, clearly mention the ideas name

*if you want to rate one or some ideas, try something like this:
idea A: +2 or ++ (great idea)
idea B: -1 or - (bad or not fun idea)
idea C: +1 or + (not too bad but not a priority or seen better)

*if you know of good ideas in a seperate post, you can post the link or even better: directly copy the ideas description (+author)so all info is here

I know alot of people like 1 v 1 so I came up with an idea. Curious as to what you think:

Set up League Nights sort of like softball. Have players sign up an pay a fee for a "season." Doesn't have to be much, could be $1 or $5 but at least it's something.

Players can be divided into 4 divisions of like 10 or 12 players and they could play the best out of 5 or 7. At the end of the season, there could be a seeded tournament based on results and the winner could get a trophy.

If you designate nights and people sign up and pay, it will have a better turn out then if you make it free and on random nights.

You could also do this with teams and have teams of 4 sign up and then accumulate wins between them.

Just an idea, run with it.

You could also have a beginners night all the way up to expert or however you wanted to do it.

People could work their way up by placing top 4 in their division or something like that while the bottom 4 would have to move down a division. Make the payouts bigger in the upper divisions

I suggested a fog or war long ago. It would really be a nice option.

But let's be honest, kdice doesn't suffer from lack of ideas. It suffers from lack of action.

(lacktion?)

Hey, you think a group of kdicers could buy this site? We all chip in whatever the price is and then spend a month coding up everything. It would be easier to have a group run site than having trendz run it all by himself

Leeeroy, I know. The chance of any ideas getting coded is very slim. But thx for your contribution. I mainly wanted to demonstrate the kdice potential and get everyone to post their ideas here. When I play kdice games, I regularily tell myself "hey, it would also be cool if I could do this, or that, ..." so I figured why not type them all out so at least they are saved somewhere. And who knows, maybe it gets Ryan's fingers itching to code again :-)

Gurgi, Thx. I wouldn't mind being a real mod but I am already able to do most of the things I would be doing as an advisor now anyway

Vermont, you are 100% right, and of course you get the credit for FoW

Vash (and Gurgi), I have considered to buy the site but even if Ryan wanted to sell, I would prefer buying with a group of people who knew how to code. I can contribute cash, ideas, management and commercial skills being an engineer but I have no programming talent at all. I still think it's best if Ryan stays the only owner and maybe even only programmer of this site. But I also think that the KDice popularity (and linked to this, it's revenue) can only increase with new additions.

Normal game, except at end of turn, all dice above the 1st are removed and randomly redistributed again with the addition of your normal bonus dice. So if you had lazy backstackers, maybe next turn they all find their way to the frontlines

Slooooowdice
**************
You can only make 1 successful attack per turn (you can try -but fail- as many as you want until 1 works). So think well about what is your best only move.

Mad Max dice
**************
normal table has max 8 dice per land. For this game, the map layouts are fixed like a normal map. The only difference is that at the start of the game a maximum dice number is randomly assigned to each territory. It is visible on each land so you will know in advance what will be the maximum stack there.

I was thinking 6, 7 or 8 as max is well balanced but you could vary to as low as 5 or 4. What if the key land in your empire had only a 5 max?

You could leave out the randomness and just create well balanced maps with fixed maximums of 4,5,6,7,8 for every specific land.

Siamese Twins
**************
This needs a 6 player table with 3 teams of 2 players. Every player controls his own colour only BUT for the refills, the total dice received = the biggest combined territory region of the team.

So as an example for a red blue twin: red has a base of 5 and another base of 2 lands. Both reds bases also border a blue base of 4 lands with 1 other blue island touching the red 5 base. That is a total Siamese twin base of 5+2+4+1=12 lands. So each twin receives 12/2 or 6 extra dice. For an uneven total, the biggest twin gets he extra dice.

Just hope your twin player is just as good as you.

Stripdice
***********

OK, I thought of skipping it because 1) -5000% chance of it ever being coded 2) it's not fun enough yet (especially if 7 guys sit)

provisional version:

* 1st badge is not determined by #lands but #dice to prevent people from overexpanding once to steal 1st badge and see the strip bonus of 1st.

* adults only: some age verification if possible (yeah right but I have to include it)
* every player who wants to play needs to submit 7 pictures to the review board (being the author of the idea I DEMAND being on the review board of the female players at least)
* obviously real pictures with a 7 pic full monte strip if possible but that can be discussed
* 1st can pauze the game (with a maximum of X seconds each round in order not to kill the fun for the rest) and zoom in on the avatars at that point
* 1st can see everyones stripped pic, based on everyones postion at that point. So 1st can see 7th his full monte pic, 6th his second last stage of the strip, etc etc. 2nd can see 7th in 4th stage; 6th in 3rd stage and 5th in 2nd stage.
* If only guys want to play, I am willing to admit wife, gf or lifepartners pics. No problems with gay strips but I might need the click to close avatar pic option if I am 1st.
* no flagging out to prevent people from seeing your full monte strip. 7th stays 7th and everyone in 1st after that can see your full strip pic. It's up for debate what will happen next with 6th,5th etc but I am tired of typing today

P.S. I am actually surprised to say I think it even might be playable, tbh I only added the stripdice in the "up next" to get people curious

Seperated Siamese Twins
*************************

I forgot this variation. So you are still forming a team with 1 player but for refills you dont look at the combined biggest land mass/2. If team member A has a main base of 10 connected and team member B only 4. Both get 7 refill. It's simple if both team members play the one after the other but it's also possible to come up with a version where the 2 other 2 teams have 1 player inbetween (team1playera (1a) -> 2a, 3a 1b 2b 3b 1a 2a etc etc

P.S. I know many of the variations have loopholes or things that need more thinking through. Feel free to point them out but I have over 15 versions left to type. I am not gonna think them all through till they are perfect, I mainly want to give an idea of the theme.

Damn Jurg, u are way too awesome for this, it hurts my heart that u have such great ideas that will never get the attention they deserve. K-Dice could be such an epic huge site with so much possible game styles. I will never understand why nothing happens.
