The following public service announcement from "The Worst Mod Ever" is intended to provide clear, unambiguous clarification of policy regarding forum posting rules.
1) Don't create threads that are entitled in a profane, obscene, racist, or otherwise obviously obviously objectionable fashion. If posting such a thread would get you punished at home, school, or work, then you can expect that it will get you punished here. (This is my own policy and I will enforce it until and unless Ryan, Thrax, or a majority of the other mods advise me that it is unreasonable.) 2) If such a thread has been posted and a mod penalizes the poster, don't bump it. Especially do not bump it if the thread has fallen off the front page of the forums. (This is Skrum's policy and I will honor and enforce it until and unless Ryan, Thrax, or a majority of the other mods advise that it is unreasonable.) 3) When posting in threads, please try to use some sense of decorum. Posts that are simply profanity-laden rants, insults, or suggestions that other players perform biologically improbable, unsanitary, or unsavory acts may be held to be actionable. Again, if your post would get you punished by your parent, expelled/suspended/sent to the principal's office at school, or fired from work, it may achieve the same result here. Individual posts inside threads will receive more leeway than objectionably entitled threads themselves, but not much. (Again, this is my own policy and I will enforce it until and unless....) This is not intended to be a show of mod muscle flexing. It is intended to provide fair warning so that you don't get hammered due to ignorance. Let the ranting begin..... |

at 4:47 PM, Monday August 23, 2010 EDT To avoid people ranting about being banned for bumping a thread they "supposedly" didnt know was not allowed to bump, could the advisors make it common policy to reply in the post with something standard like "This thread is closed, author is banned for x days and so will everyone bumping this"
Also, to avoid people bumping offensive threads with alts, give the same -post to all alts with same IP? If you apply this rule to cheating, it would make sense here too |

at 10:26 PM, Monday August 23, 2010 EDT @ Jurgen: I agree. A clear statement that the author has been warned or suffered a -post and that the thread is now virtu-locked should be standard practice in these cases.
And yes, the doctrine of imposing penalties on the player, not just the alt, applies to forum violations, as well as in-game offenses. |

As much as I respect Grunvagr for his kdice talent, I am gonna go with kehoe's sharp analysis. And I am sure I would need to add Jesse or he would be offended he isn't in the evil mod poll. |
