Steinbrenner turned baseball into a boring heap of high payrolls, ridiculous prices, and little parity. Here's to hoping his kids drive the empire into the ground. Good riddance... |

at 2:05 PM, Tuesday July 13, 2010 EDT no parity eh?
since 1980 18 different franchises have won a World Series, and that was with a year missing because of the strike. since 1980 only 12 different franchises have won a super bowl, and only 13 different franchises have lifted the Stanley Cup in the same time period. if anything, baseball has the most parity of any sport. im tired of hearing that argument. point is, RIP steinbrenner |

at 2:23 PM, Tuesday July 13, 2010 EDT Yeah......I hate the Yankees THAT much.
The Yankees take advantage of fans by charging the same (or higher) ticket prices as that of football franchises, only they get 81+ home games per year whereas football gets a whopping 8+ games. In the last 10 years a total 40 playoff appearances were made in the American League. 9 were taken by the Yankees, 6 by LA, 6 by Boston, 6 by Oakland, and 5 by Minnesota. That's 32 of 40 playoff appearances from 5 teams. Yeah.......plenty of parity there. |
