I am ready to hang up these paws and give it up once and for all. I am just so sick and tired of a) seeing pga's in tournies (b) people farming to claim a higher spot compared to the fighter who gets squashed (c) people not honoring a flag

I can not take it anymore, and to the regular people who have played against me on regular tables know exactly what I am talking about. Yet most people will probably "bump" this, and ignore it and say its a game. Well, I do agree but in searching through the archives last night I noticed two things. (a) I noticed that over 1/2 of the people in the top 100 every month are the same people (b) people like me who try FAIL every time to even have a shot at getting a trophy.

I am giving this until the end of the month to see who is really a "true" person to me and to find out exactly who these idiots are. Thanks for taking the time to read and leave a supportive message or a "bump". Poochie

maybe you just suck not getting top100.
build a reputation. fair play, fair trade, wise choices, and people will start recognizing you. in the end you will not need pga. pga will need you!

or do some diplomacy/manipulation, and you will not need to waste your stacks, when you can persuade other to do 6v5 or 8v8.

I thought I might comment and refine some of these points

"1)PGAs fail when you know them. I know most of the middle rank PGAs and some of the top PGAs (due to some tops rarely visiting 500s). Watch some games, they're easy to spot, especially in 500s, where people are supposed to have some skill at all. If you see someone fighting fiercely one player side and not taking even sure shots at another one... it's PGA."

Careful about being categorical, especially on higher tables. Usually when you see these kinds of behaviours on 2K+, with regulars, it is as simple as a silent truce BUT you should look for this. this is perhaps one of the most important skills in kidce, the skill to identify truces (weather they are PGA or not) is imperative in kidce. And usually a truce on high table will play exactly as if they where PGA, except that the decision to truce is done in round 1 or 2 of the game, not before

"So... when you know PGAs, avoid them. Seriously, to beat a PGA you must PGA as well. I avoid doing that, so I don't sit/leave seats when I see some well known pairs/trios. Play the games you can win. "

or go to another table, say "hey the X/Y PGA is playing at somewhere, wanna join me in killing them???"

"2) If you are still not too good at this game (<60 PPG from normal games), stay at 500s. 2ks will eat ya even without some people trying to whack you as another noob. 5ks... don't even try. "

they will eat you up for sure. and often they will not do it because of your stats you have no idea how easy it is to discover that a player do not belong on 2K, usually you can see it in the first round. it is not only the moves the player does, but how he talks/not talks about them. top players almost always talk about moves they do, especially if it could be interpreted as a hit/insult/unfriendly against another player. this is often in an effort to reduce
or remove the counter attacks/ taking back

"3) Learn how to play. This is done at 500s best, as 500s already have dom and there are few insane kamikazes who ruin both their own games and yours. There are some guides around, read them... know the odds too, not the exact percentage, but that 0 advantage (3v3, 4v4, etc) has 45% means don't roll unless you must, +1 advantage means roll when you don't mind losing that stack, +2
advantage is almost safe, roll it often and +3 advantage is hard to lose, so just do it ASAP.

There is much more to be said, but as I said... read guides, watch some games. KDice isn't as simple as it looks like when you try to score high. "

there is sadly too much wrong with this statement. 500 will teach you alot about how to move your dice, but not about how good players react in response to them
and if you know how good players react and how to make them react in the way you want to, you can easily get average players to react as you want them to. the real skill is learned at 2K and 5K.

3v3, 4v4, 5v4, 4v3 are the most important attacks in kdice. to know when do to it is what separate good players from ok players. you will often see good players do them, even if they are not necessary for the connect. the main reason to do them is to cripple an opponents ability to make a base close to what you consider your base. you also need to consider your move in how it gives your opponent options to connect. often it is better to do a 5v4 and deliberately not be in the way of your opponents connect, than to do easier attacks. this is especially true on higher
tables.

"4)Tournies and PGAs... as you climb higher, you get chances to eliminate some hard opponents. It's not like being a total ass and breaking a flag - you can simply reduce their chances to win in many ways... do that.

There are 2 main strategies to win tourneys
a) eliminate strong players (without being an ass)
b) eliminate guys with most points to get a better shot at winning.

Do that when you try to win. "

this sounds ok, but needs refinement and more "options"

"5) Get to know people... I don't mean forming PGAs yourself, it's just that before I whack someone I know, I wait slightly more, warn them or ask for a flag. Some people do the same to me. KDice has a social factor in any way, and without being social (chatting in the box, having friends), you just won't get far. For example I remember your avatar... but I don't know YOU. I will treat you as another unknown player next time we meet, and that is likely to be harmful for you. "

not all true, not all wrong. you do not know how often top players identifies an acc as an alt.
top players can smell it, it is all about behaviour and moves.

"5) Become a member... have you noticed that most of the tops are members? Members get twice more tourneys, they tend to know each other better. Obviously, it's not a 100% win strategy, but being a member does make things less difficult. "

becoming a member gives you access to members tourneys. the best tourneys on this site. I am considering getting a membership against, if only to play members tourney.

Well, a short reply.

This is only my recipe of success (not matter how small it is). I can say for sure that I do what I wrote and that in my practice, it works. There are other ways... and it's good for you if they work as well. This one's mine.

1) You may name it as round 1 truces or PGAs, but the only difference I see is that one is one bannable. Still, after seeing enough games I can surely say that some pairs or truce (if you wish) most of the time, meaning that A is more likely to "truce" B in another game anyway. The end result is still the same - you get killed.

Crying about PGAs gets people nowhere. Ever.

2) I agree to this... but honestly, this was just a warning... don't play 2ks/5ks till you master 500s. All extra written there is just my opinion, take it or not.

3) I wrote about some advantage combinations in general. As you can see it's not like YOU MUST NOT ROLL 4V4S. Each situation is slightly different, but I hope you agree that constant +1 and +0 rolls are poor play. Not only you lose many rolls, but also you over-expand most of the time, ending up pretty low.

You have described some situations, but I hope you agree that my advice is, though more generalized, good as well. It's more aimed to getting a trophy than climbing to top 10.

4) Eh... no way I'm telling more about this. I do like winning in the tournaments and I'd like to keep it that way.

5) The alt issue is slightly more complicated.. for example, I watched CPR yesterday whacking longpube just because lp was playing an alt. Alt style does give some hints about players level... but it removes all social implications.

CPR couldn't smell longpube (pun intended), so he played all out to kill him. I'd do the same to my friend's alt if I didn't know him. Playing an unknown alt means more risks to be killed.

Hello Pooch, I can fully understand your sad feelings as I do well remember we were both playing in the same tourney then ( me also possibly under an alt).
I also remember when you complained about PGA in that situation.

I fully agree with you, it is truly frustrating to play (a) good game (s) and being wiped out by 2 (or 3) obviously weaker opponent`s coordinated and unspoken play....

It has happened to most of us in numerous ways and often enough.
In fact, after placing unpaid 4th rank in two tourneys (and being outplayed same style) within only 2 days and having experience about the similar frustration as you have, I was close to the point of resigning as well.

On the other one must be also fair, that I had never reached that far in thoses tourneys without the help of 'friendly' moves of other players !
We are not exactly talking truce or pga yet 'friendly moves' acccording to my definition happen when there is the option between different choices of similarly benefitial moves.
Such, at times, I would also purposely not make the most 'useful' moves (seen from my own perspective only), as I know it would badly hurt other player`s postion, interest and chances. After all we are not alone out there....

It could be a good tourney strategy as well to accept a lower ranking (I am not talking about losing points though) instead of always trying to get 1st or 2nd.

So much my thouhgts as a still near NOOB, i will not comment on those much dedicated suggestions by Macho whom ?i much appreciate as a friend or the amendments made by mr. kreuzfeld. Happy`ssuggeston to always beat yourself seems fair enough as a monthly goal and trav`s suggeston to buy a membership could possibly be the easiest entry for that.
After all, inan economic approach, trying to collect points by gameplay is much harder than working on a regular job, earn money and then easily buying the trial membership...

Yet, I make another reply to a forum that EVERYONE should read. People with alt's who do it to ruin the game are plain terrible. This month, for once; I broke out my main to see what I could do. I understand totally that its "just a game" but now I have realize the truth behind kdice and why people like myself who try hard to earn one trophy will NEVER have that chance. Some people spend all day and night here to ruin the game. I am now suggesting that one account per person is sufficent. snmlmz(or something like that) thought that this post was in reguards to him; but in no situation does it. There are about 20 people that I can think of who have ruin this fun game for me. Those people will hear from me before the end of the month. I think it's either that I stop playing this for good or just make a backup with my real name and try like that; with only the people I tell will know it's me. So sick of all the bullsh!t here and good people are VERY hard to find. Please respond freely now, b/c I think I am gonna stop. Poochie
