Once again, I propose a 5000 point limit on 500s. Analogically, a 20000 point limit on 2000s. Pros: - More players: 2k and 5k tables fill faster - Also leads to less PGA at higher tables - fairer 500 games - fairer 2k and 5k games - more reasonable point distribution - less cowardice Cons: - Ryan doesn't care - .... It really grinds my gears when there is a 500 game going on, with a player sitting in with 30000 points, that refuses to play 2k (hurr durr too much PGA, won't fill), and consequently either kills the guy with 600 points (who gets -300, back to noob hell) or has a bad start, then weakflags for 5th place (this does happen more often than you think), cause he might lose 0.9% instead of 0.8% of his score. Stop this charade! I've tried reasoning with people, but mandatory table limits seem to be the only solution. Is there a con I'm overlooking? |

at 2:03 AM, Saturday March 27, 2010 EDT maybe instead of forcing anyone to do anything they obviously don't want to we could try to better understand why they don't and either accept that or modify the game to better motivate towards the kdice you would like to see.

at 3:50 PM, Saturday March 27, 2010 EDT playing with my alt (obscurehero). I'm down at the 100 tables and I'm increasingly frustrated by the large numbers of ppl above 2k. It makes things incredibly stupid. When you have 3000 pts and 4th is -8 pts... and 1st is 212
why even play? |

at 7:06 AM, Saturday April 3, 2010 EDT Yeah, we had lower limits for the mid tables before and it tended to top players out of playing. The issue is that when you're the first person to break the 5000k limit on 500's you need to wait for at least six more people to break it and be online ready to play.
I think the answer might be in changing something on the lower level tables to promote more players to higher points along with having lower upper limits. Here's the point distribution at the end of last month: level | # players | | 0 | 4209 | | 100 | 1070 | | 200 | 603 | | 300 | 538 | | 400 | 416 | | 500 | 257 | | 600 | 146 | | 700 | 120 | | 800 | 95 | | 900 | 85 | >1000 | 1000 | 615 | | 2000 | 294 | | 3000 | 165 | | 4000 | 127 | | 5000 | 73 | | 6000 | 52 | | 7000 | 21 | | 8000 | 23 | | 9000 | 15 | >10000 | 10000 | 73 | | 20000 | 37 | | 30000 | 6 | | 40000 | 12 | | 50000 | 7 | | 60000 | 2 | | 70000 | 2 | | 80000 | 1 | | 90000 | 1 | | 100000 | 1 | | 120000 | 2 | | 130000 | 1 | | 160000 | 1 | As you can see, a low 5000 point limit on 500's still only affects around 200 players and thats at the END of the month. How do we get more <1000 players up higher? Stricter limits on lower tables? What if 0s were limited at 100, 100s limited at 500, 500s limited at 2k? Something to consider. |

at 9:18 AM, Saturday April 3, 2010 EDT you can avoid a lot of the game to game favor trading by having a larger pool of players at the top tables
people are naturally greedy and competitive and if you arent sitting with the exact same 20-30 people all month there is less incentive to have strong long-term relationships with everyone thats one reason the elo days were better, you only got rewarded for playing the top tables so all 200-300 people who qualified for the 2k tables always played the 2k tables a larger set of top table players makes the game more interesting and dynamic |
