i'm p sure dnr is pat.

Skrum, you still haven't stated what's wrong with using kpg.

Ok, I'm not a statistician nor am I terribly well versed in statistics beyond elementary stats. From what I have read, Yates' correction applies to chi-square tests. However, nowhere have I read that it applies to chi-square distributions. Of course, I could be wrong. If I am, cite me a source please?

Thinking logically, it is quite possible to have a 5-game streak of 'kill luck'. It is far far more unlikely that someone would have the same 'kill luck' over 30 games.

chloe:

I think that what is wrong with KPG is that it doesn't encourage the playing of more games. A game is meant to be played. KPRG gives that incentive.

On the other hand, games are meant to be played well. A total, such as raw number of kills, will encourage the playing of more games. So, in sum, kills encourages too much sloppy game playing, KPG discourages game playing, while KRPG is a happy compromise.

skrum, if we define successful game playing as those who can successfully get off of the 0 tables, then you should not include the kill leaders in your rankings, since they never get off the 0 tables since all they do is kill whoever they can then flag.

that type of gameplay is the definition of sloppy. they dont play 1000 pure games of competition to win. they kill as many as they can, then flag and move on to the next game. they really make the 0 levels nutso.

So, in summary, play a ton of games with a kill every once in a while? I firstly don't believe that kpg discourages game playing, while I do agree that it does not encourage game playing. I understand you want to encourage playing more games, but kprg so heavily favours people who play a ton of games every month. I don't think KPRG is a happy compromise at all. If you're trying for a metric to tie kills to skill, kpg*ppg seems logical, as has been suggested previously. I feel that KPRG rewards people for playing lots of games and thus does not encourage skillful gameplay in the least.

Good point monte. I threw them in in my last listings since chloe wanted them. If Ryan were to list KPRG leaders in the leaderboard *cough* instead of kill leaders, it might create less havoc at the zero tables.

at the point in time that I suggested adding top 5 kills to the list, I wasn't aware that KPRG was supposed have some sort of tie to skill.

i mean point-skill. clearly kprg has a tie to kill-skill.
