at 5:06 AM, Friday February 19, 2010 EST Rigged? Are you fucking kidding? All the years we went nowhere, had great players slip through our fingers, had a phenomenal defense but no offense, didn't reach the playoffs until the early 90s, didn't win one till in the 2ks, and didn't even get to a SB for the first 43 years? Yeah, that is a team that is given preferential treatment, there. Great call.
The Saints FINALLY, after decades of trying, got the right management, coaching staff, and players to make something happen --after nearly losing the team to another city. But sure, it was all about Katrina, right? That's why Chicago beat us in the 06 NFC championship. That's why the next two years were 7-9 and 8-8. We were the chosen ones! --oh, wait, no, we didn't have a defense worth crap and I could have scored a TD on Jason "burn victim" David. It took our head coach taking a cut in his own salary to help pay for Gregg Williams to come run the defense that we saw success on that side of the ball --and injuries almost cost us the defense, that three game losing streak was all about a lack of depth on defense and injuries. Was Gregg Williams coming to work here a rig job too? Hell, every Saints fan used to wonder if there was a conspiracy against us, but it seems we just weren't good enough until now. But now we are. And for as long as we can keep this group together, we have a chance of making a run of it for a bit. Then, attrition will take it's toll and someone else will put together a total package and it'll be their turn to make a run. That's how it works in the NFL. |
