at 10:15 AM, Tuesday October 6, 2009 EDT i agree about das. i think he would keep a level head. not as level as Verms, but hardly anyone is that level. you could pour good syrup (Canadian) on Verm's head and it wouldn't drip.

at 10:28 AM, Tuesday October 6, 2009 EDT It's not that I don't think das is rational, because he is. It's that his liking to stir the pot (very similar to you monte) is in contrast to what the role of a mod should be. Kind of why I'd only want to be a mod to stop hate speech and police av's, because when it comes to social aspect of kdice I don't want to try and stay out of everything. I like giving my opinion and making people angry, but that would not be a neutral point of view that a mod should be taking.
Herein becomes the dillema, how are you going to clean the shit up like what happened with the members tourney yesterday. I wish Ryan would let someone help him with his RC calculations, because thats probably the best bet as a neutral tale without giving out how it truly works. To acutally stay on top of pga's, you have to be able to track games, watch moves, and its very time consuming to which i dont think a mod will be able to do, but if you beef up how the RC works it could do a lot to help. |

at 10:34 AM, Tuesday October 6, 2009 EDT yeah, i can sorta see your viewpoint hoe.
but i think in our defense, das and i would act more responsibly as mods than as just players. same thing happened to thrax i think. he used to be pretty crazy as a pure player sometimes, but when he became a mod, he scaled back his PGA with shad from gag-worthy overboard to merely completely obvious. but i dont think das and i would pull shit like banning for fun. i think we would both ask for outside opinions before making decisions. i dunno. |

at 10:38 AM, Tuesday October 6, 2009 EDT one thing that would bug me about mod-nominated mods would be the fact that, the new mods would share the same opinions as the old mods, which just breeds more of the same problems that people already have with moderation. thats why i made the other thread, i figured the best way to figure out who should be the next mod would be to let the kdice polity decide.
yes some of those people on the list are a bit antagonistic, but doesn't a mod have to be antagonistic? i mean, if you have someone modding that is trying to keep everyone happy and not step on people's toes, then what you're left with is a vastly unmoderated community. Thats part of the reason why das/hat/me would make pretty decent mods, we wouldnt be afraid to use the banhammer liberally. |
