...and there is no sign that Mr. Obama is any different from the past democrats that sat in the oval office. The only exception is that he has 100% compliance within his party and a majority in congress that will pass anything Mr. Obama supports.

How hypocritical is it that Mr. Obama continues to remind the general public of the deficit he inherited, but then spends so recklessly that the possibility of having a balanced budget anytime within his term is utterly impossible.

How hypocritical is it that the libs called the recent spending bill that was passed a "stimulus package". How does $20 billion dollars towards food stamps stimulate the economy? What jobs will be created by increasing food stamp allowances? This is only one example of many within that spending bill, but I'll try to avoid making this post unneccisarily long.

One of you left wingers need to help me understand what our President is attempting to do. The view from the cheap seats here in right field makes the picture look exactly like I thought it would look before the election took place; the liberal democrats want a socialist republic in place of our cherished capitalistic society. Let's continue to drain the rich to pay for the poor. Let's continue to increase taxes on large corporations that have been laying off employees at an enormous pace. Let's increase benefits to the unemployed instead of finding ways to provide jobs for them.

I'm ranting a bit, but one thing is clear. Barack Obama scares the living shit out of me. JP, UGB, anybody, please help me feel better about the job he's doing.

And someone explain to me how the fuck he has a 67% approval rating. They must have done the polling at a foreclosure seminar or a foodbank.

I think what Marxism was touching on is that demand drives supply not the other way around. That is to say that you can't sell something if no one wants it and you won't invest in something that nobody would want/wants. So essentially the only way to spring an economy in recession is to flood it with demand. Since we can't force people to buy things the next best thing is to somehow put money in the hands of people that don't have it. That's where welfare and other sorts of stuff comes in. Essential Keynes said that the government should act as a flywheel for the national market and economy. Before Keynes we did what Reagan/fiscal conservatives want to do. It didn't work. It resulted in the greatest financial crisis in our nation's history. So are you surprised why it didn't work when they tried it again? The rich got some cheap wealth in the 80s and 90s and the rest of us kept status quo, now the nation is paying for it. And guess what, we're the one paying, not the rich.

So if you actually studied economics and didn't bullshit the class you probably would condone the government just handing the poor money because frankly that's far more efficient than what's going on right now.

Your statement after being presented with economic benefit of suppling food stamps.

If I said "day-old leftover pizza tastes better than fresh pizza" would you said "oh by that logic, 100 year old pizza would be even better?"

No, you hopefully wouldn't.

Extending an position to the ridiculous is a cheap ploy in arguing. Marxism responded to your question "How does this help the economy?" with the evidence that supports how it helps the economy. You replied by basically saying "nuhuh because if you did it to the 50 times over it would be ridiculous."

Having him for 4 more years would be a mistake.

Besides, my logic is better than yours. If handing out money for food stamps gets you your best rate of return, why wouldn't you do a shitload of it?

If I'm investing money in a market and one thing gives me a better return than others, guess what, I'm going to do a lot more with that one thing than any other. The reason more isn't done in welfare giving is that it's an unsustainable model. Giving free money to those that contribute $0 in taxes is generally a bad idea.

Thraxle the point you are completely missing is that it's not JUST FOOD STAMPS that give this rate of return. If you had looked at the chart, which you obviously haven't, you would see that unemployment benefits also produce a similar return on investment. It is social welfare spending as a whole that benefits society like this and it makes perfect sense when you think about it. Richer people, when given tax cuts, are much, much more likely to save that extra money than poor people are likely to save welfare checks or social security benefits and so on. What this means is that the vast, vast majority of money that is provided to lower class people is put straight back into the economy. On top of that, social welfare spending and wealth redistribution help ease the tensions society feels when there is such disproportionate accumulation of wealth as we are seeing now, thus reducing negative socioeconomic effects like violence.
