...and there is no sign that Mr. Obama is any different from the past democrats that sat in the oval office. The only exception is that he has 100% compliance within his party and a majority in congress that will pass anything Mr. Obama supports.

How hypocritical is it that Mr. Obama continues to remind the general public of the deficit he inherited, but then spends so recklessly that the possibility of having a balanced budget anytime within his term is utterly impossible.

How hypocritical is it that the libs called the recent spending bill that was passed a "stimulus package". How does $20 billion dollars towards food stamps stimulate the economy? What jobs will be created by increasing food stamp allowances? This is only one example of many within that spending bill, but I'll try to avoid making this post unneccisarily long.

One of you left wingers need to help me understand what our President is attempting to do. The view from the cheap seats here in right field makes the picture look exactly like I thought it would look before the election took place; the liberal democrats want a socialist republic in place of our cherished capitalistic society. Let's continue to drain the rich to pay for the poor. Let's continue to increase taxes on large corporations that have been laying off employees at an enormous pace. Let's increase benefits to the unemployed instead of finding ways to provide jobs for them.

I'm ranting a bit, but one thing is clear. Barack Obama scares the living shit out of me. JP, UGB, anybody, please help me feel better about the job he's doing.

And someone explain to me how the fuck he has a 67% approval rating. They must have done the polling at a foreclosure seminar or a foodbank.

Well Obama did close Guantanamo for us. That way, all of the terrorists who want to kill Americans and Israelis are back in the Middle East as heroes.

And he let us know that his recent bill had no earmarks. And that he has no lobbyists in his cabinet.

Good job so far Mr. Obama. [/sarcasm]

Thanks Storm, interesting article. I still think the money would be better spent if it were given to actual tax payers that aren't living paycheck to paycheck and would be more apt to spend or invest that money.

Arguing about politics on the intertubes is seriously probably one of the stupidest exercises known to man. I mean really we aren't going to change a single persons belief based on some forum post.

That said, get fucked you neo-con-nazis.

And with that said, change good or bad doesn't happen in one or forty-four nights, and real change for the better won't be brought to Washington as long as special interests and fund-raising obligations of our elected officials continue to be the main driving force behind our legislation.

Also 4 or 8 more years of a continued administration with ties to corporate welfare and social conservative retards would have not brought any significant improvements either. So worse case we got fucked either way.

Here is an idea though, drop the idea that we were in anyway a true capitalist society that should be cherished on Jan 19th and now the socialist reform has begun. That is illogical and retarded, and there can't be intelligent debate if that is your basic view.

Our economy was based on corporate welfare and not on capitalism. Irresponsible deregulation is just as bad as irresponsible regulation. This deregulation that occurred over the last ~15 years or so lead to irrational periods of exuberance that were not tempered by responsible government intervention or protections.

We can't have truly free market capitalism, and while government regulation does interfere with efficiency if companies are out running wild with no plans to be efficient, ie. ENRON, then most intelligent people would agree that there should be government regulation in place to ensure businesses have the proper incentives both to compete and to be responsible corporate citizens.

Socialism doesn't work, but we aren't going that way right now no matter what the conservative talking heads are yelling about it. We are moving towards a period of increased government involvement and regulation and if done right this has the chance to remove some ineffiecies from a terribly broken system. This has a chance to go wrong, which is why as the opposition to the current party in power you should not be out there saying these are all bad ideas, you should be out there arguing that you have better ideas. To fall back on the past ideas is just going to bring as much failure as the potential for overboard government programs though. So get a new tune, stop saying socialism is destroying our great capitalist society and bring something new to the table. Or go wonder off into the woods clinging to the failures of the past and find true conservatism dead.

That is my contribution to the retardation of this discussion. I know, tl;dr, deal.

Based on what evidence/economic theory? I'm not interested in debating economics as I'm ignorant on the subject, as are 99.99% of the population, so how can they ever know what's best for the economy?

"the liberal democrats want a socialist republic in place of our cherished capitalistic society"

You mean the chreished capitalistic society which has resulted in ordinary tax payers having to bail out privately owned banks to the tune of billions and billions of dollars, which in actual fact is socialism.

You Capatalists make me laugh.

Thanks Sam. I'm not trying to spark an argument as much as I'm trying to get an honest opinion from someone other than the corrupt media. I'm truly scared of our government right now, not that it would be any better if McCain or anyone else occupied the White House.

I'm just tired of the hypocrisy that American politics has become. Many of the things that Obama spoke out against in his campaign, such as irresponsible spending, are currently being done in his administration, only on a larger scale. I know the economy can't be fixed overnight, but nothing on Wall St. is showing any signs of a turnaround. I try to stay away from the news networks when I form my opinion on certain subjects, but unfortunately there aren't any other options from which to get the information.

And I agree with you rifty...
