to switch gears, ill tell a short story: while in taiwan, i realized that all the school kids there wanted to have an english name that was uncommon/original. like if they ever met someone else who had the same name, then they would go home and cry, and come up with some other new random name for themselves for the next day. so im teachin an engrish class one day, and get the high school kids to introduce themselves to me like "hi my name is blahblah and i like to blahblah." im not really paying attention until this gem comes up from some girl: "hi, im easy, and i like to ride bicycles." i did a doubletake and then spent the next fifteen minutes trying to explain why she should probably change her name if she ever goes to america. |
