Dear players of KDice,

A tale of a challenge must be told. A story of freedom must be told. It started when 3 guys wanted to make a completely new account who didn’t have ANY friends or social relationships and to win a month and get a golden .jpg trophy . It was a noble quest where we had to build everything from the start and make an account win. We failed, but not without trying.

The Classy challenge started with 3 original members : Unlucky9999, Nuflis, and XCRobin. Nuflis managed to bring XC out of retirement only by calling it a personal favor, and XC agreed to play but under two conditions. 1) XC was only going to play for one month, and 2) There would be absolutely no PGA.

We wanted to win for the month, emerging as the only winner of a kdice month, except for ,maybe, Grunvagr who won without PGA. It seemed like a noble goal, and all members agreed to the conditions. The account was created in the last days in February by XC and we played some games, but the real start was March. Within one day we managed to stick with the top 25, including those who had the 2500 point advantage by being members. As a side note, that is a rather large gap. The players who start at 2500 have a significant advantage, but I digress…

To make it easier for us, we created a forum for ourselves where we posted a game report, noting who was on good terms with the account, dubbed “Classy”. It allowed the members to keep track of which players were trustworthy in a truce and also to include inside jokes with other players to try and make it appear as if Classy was only one player. At first you ,the players, didn't like or trust classy too much, but we slowly built relationships and we got a reputation that Classy was a fair and good dicer. We started the month quite well and played some games even becoming first overall for a day or two. The main backbone of them was Nuflis, who played the most games and kept us together and, of course, made XC and Unlucky play some games. As a team we made some mistakes over the course of the month, most notably playing 10k games. Those games were a disaster. Since [classified] was a new account, the other “elite” players ganged up on the account, silently, without utilizing the chat. It was an unspoken agreement that the new players would get last. The only 10k games that we won, we won within the first three turns by getting extremely lucky starts. We estimate that by playing the 7 or so 10k games easily cost us a top 5 finish. There were problems with the members playing games. Nuflis was busy with business trips in the middle of the month, and that coupled with XC’s Spring Break drive to Florida also hindered the number of games played by the trio. For almost a full week, Unlucky was at the helm of [classified], keeping the account from slipping in position. However Unlucky started playing fewer and fewer games. In the final day of March, XC played all day trying to push the account into the top 25. X LUCK X made an appearance, and after exchanging words, XC scrapped the project, cut almost all ties with members of the kdice community, and disappeared. With Unlucky almost playing no games, Nuflis realized that the project was almost dead. However, refusing to give up, Nuflis searched for other players to take the original member’s places.

Phoenix37 and Sunvic were invited into the classified challenge, making the group complete. The Project "Classy" has been reborn with a new, shining, promising light. Although, we learned from March how difficult it is at winning a month or just getting a place in the Top 10 for a completely new guy, who has to overcome a lot of difficulties and win against a lot of long-standing relationships.

At first in April, we mostly competed in 500's, because there weren't so many relationships and it was much easier to win points, although we also started to play 2.5k's. The project could have continued, by only 2 members (Sunvic and Nuflis) still gave a lot of time to classy challenge, because both Unlucky and Phoenix became inactive. Before the death of Classy there was an attempt to bring it back, but that turned out miserably.

Every one of our team did a great job and we really learned a lot about each other we bonded and became better friends. Nuflis, who was the backbone of the team bonded us, encouraged us and got us to play. If not him, this project would have never done so much, cause he made us play and achieve this month. XC, was the inventor of this idea and he also played a bit. He was our avatar designer of the team and our official recruiter. He recruited Sunvic and Phoenix and did really a lot for this team to achieve it. Sunvic & Phoenix really brought a lot of life to this team. If not them, this surely would have failed. They both really played a lot of 500 and got a lot of points and really did A HUGE job. And the last, but not least, is Unlucky. He was the most inactive team member (not counting XC who was gone), but he still played a lot of games and I played most of 10k and 2.5k.

We (I mean Unlucky) also wanted to take rnd and Mikeypoo on to our team as official spokesman to Ryan, but no one else agreed that that was a good idea :(

WE FAILED! But we saw the perspective of 2.5k and 10k with the eyes of a newcomer and we learned how big the relationships have expanded. The players who mercilessly killed Classy in the 10k’s were considered our good friends. The members remarked that if they had sat their main accounts in those games, there was no doubt the outcome of those games would have been vastly different. Unlucky noted that a new player comes to 2.5k or 10k and he doesn’t talk you can say that he wont stay there. A newcomer has to be either very nice (BoneRoller) and talkative, or he has to be skilled enough to win and still talk a bit (like DaShiVa). The trustworthiness is one of the most important things for a new player, if you don’t establish a good reputation quite fast, you probably will be booted from the high tables and you will have to try all over again. I can say that this was a wonderful experience for us, as players to play at different levels and truly see how much old relationships matter. We’d like to make note of DaShiVa, he’s going to be a major player in the upcoming months, and he’s a very good player too, and we consider him Classy’s best friend.

Signed,
Unlucky9999 (The Writer)
Nuflis
XCRobin
Phoenix37
Sunvic

P.S. If any of you want to add anything to my post, feel free. [classified] has been declassified.

I never considered Classified a newcomer. I think most people knew it was an alt, so I don't know how much actual "new comer" treatment you got.

The point really wasn't that we were a newcomer. It was that we didn't play with the long lasting friendships. I was killed by people who would never have attacked me a year ago when I was active. Nuf was killed by his "best" friends in this game. While people may have known that the account wasn't a complete newcomer, to them, there was no reason to PGA/OTF/silently truce [classified]. And why should they?

Look at it this way. How many top 10 players are new in each month? Maybe two at the maximum. And by new, I mean that they haven't already been in the top 25. There are exceptions to this though, but generally speaking, the same players that were scoring in the top 25 are placing up there.

To be frank, and I've been saying this for over a year now, nothing has changed in this game for over a year and a half now. The Phaz0r clan started 6 days, yes 6 days, after the release of the game. You cannot place high without friends in this game. Simple as that.

CoMik -> rnd -> X LUCK X -> Me.

And so it goes. Say what you want. All of us who played the account were lauded by the general kdice public as some of the best players. In those threads a week back, our names were on those lists. So how can the "best players in kdice" not win for the month?
They played a different account, and didn't have any 'friends'.

this drove me nuts because of XC's ego.

and the fact that i treated this account worse than any unknown players, because it was obv that it was some regular top tabler's alt.

sorry, nix. nothing but love for you and nuf. but i really cant stand the stench of xc.

and the experiment wouldve been really good if a couple of factors hadnt been involved: namely 1) an obvious name, and 2) coming off as an obv alt. if this had been done with a truly anonymous account (which is possible, just hard to do)... then i wouldve put more trust in the conclusions.
