it may seem amazing or whatever, but i'm female and enjoy playing kdice. however along with other female players, i receive a lot of unwanted attention and abuse from having a picture of myself, not slutty, not erotic, just a picture of my face, as my icon.
i'm not overreacting here, trust me. i don't mind being told i look attractive. it's a compliment, right? too many in a day and it gets repetitive but, even so, it's no reason to complain. what i'm talking about here is moments like this, from maybe ten minutes ago. weedeater: i blow a loud all over the chich in the pick teal eramus: a loud? weedeater: load eramus: hrmm weedeater: lol weedeater: got excited weedeater: lol Sophalis: oh dear god. Sophalis: seriously. get a girlfriend or something weedeater: why weedeater: i can rub one out weedeater: looking at you yea.. i'm really fed up of guys thinking they can say things like that to me and other girls on here and get away with it. i'm not amazingly feminist but behaviour like that is disgusting and inappropriate. this is a dice game, not an internet chat room, and women should be able to play on here without sexual harrassment like the example i just quoted. i'd like to hear some opinions... thanks. |

at 7:35 AM, Thursday November 22, 2007 EST My apologies to Kwiz and Alan :( *wyould you believe me if I said it's only because you're my favorites?*
I used to go through phases of putting up and taking down my picture because of the various and numerous name calling and for some reason it acutally affected me. It seemed the higher I got in score, the less rude and disgusting people were (with exception to Adam/RND whose trademark seemed to be to call you a cunt even if he was your "friend" or bb. This is in keeping with Vohaul's post... This will be quickly countered with the obvious fact of either not being able to climb fast enough to escape the harassment or the simplest fact that no matter what you shouldn't have to put up with it at all... The online world is just like the real world, Soph --- every bad thing can't be filtered or fixed, you will face issues (or probably already have) that are affected by your gender your whole life. This post can go on forever and there will never be a solution to please you (not because you are stubborn, but beacuse it's just not possible). Look: The more I've played and gotten to know people, the less I notice when people talk the ways they've talked to you, instead, like Alan, I notice all the great talks I've had with people. From the looks of it, people like and enjoy your company, try to surround yourself with them when you play maybe? You can't always find your friends around, but I tihnk if you look at it that way, you'll find more fun times than bad :) |

My point is proven. You people disgust me. |

at 1:38 PM, Thursday November 22, 2007 EST On entertainment sites most people form better opinions of each other when they don't know what you look like, you can still post yourself if you want but after a couple months people will be bored of it. Bad impression, and players who give bad impressions aren't ever going to receive the nicest comments
---- As far as being nice goes no one wants this place to be *flooded* with childish cursing but it'd get dull if there wasn't a fun way to trash talk. Think of a way to raise the standards without removing freedom and good luck with it. Simplest way is call people out from the top one at a time to set the example and hope karma works its way down eventually |
