it may seem amazing or whatever, but i'm female and enjoy playing kdice. however along with other female players, i receive a lot of unwanted attention and abuse from having a picture of myself, not slutty, not erotic, just a picture of my face, as my icon.
i'm not overreacting here, trust me. i don't mind being told i look attractive. it's a compliment, right? too many in a day and it gets repetitive but, even so, it's no reason to complain. what i'm talking about here is moments like this, from maybe ten minutes ago. weedeater: i blow a loud all over the chich in the pick teal eramus: a loud? weedeater: load eramus: hrmm weedeater: lol weedeater: got excited weedeater: lol Sophalis: oh dear god. Sophalis: seriously. get a girlfriend or something weedeater: why weedeater: i can rub one out weedeater: looking at you yea.. i'm really fed up of guys thinking they can say things like that to me and other girls on here and get away with it. i'm not amazingly feminist but behaviour like that is disgusting and inappropriate. this is a dice game, not an internet chat room, and women should be able to play on here without sexual harrassment like the example i just quoted. i'd like to hear some opinions... thanks. |

"RE: DiceyGirl hot girls dont use words like hegemony. definitely not top five material." Uh...the only thing a hot girl can do to make herself hotter IS to use words like "hegemony" and use them properly. I'm sorry you're so threatened by intelligent women. More fun for the rest of us. |

at 3:32 PM, Saturday November 24, 2007 EST i see "girls" using their gender to gain advantage in this game all the time. Especially xxDiceyGirlxx. this game is mostly psychology, the best players win in the chatbox not the gameboard... and a pic can be a powerful tool.
the point is get over it. you know what you are doing. |

at 2:53 PM, Sunday November 25, 2007 EST Well, first of all, I don't believe you're 19, sophalis. Second of all, this thread has gotten silly and creepy. The thing about posting your own picture is really just about putting yourself out there. Maybe a "True to yourself" sorta thing.
It also takes away the mystery of who one is. Many avatars put up a facade of who someone really is, when they're designed to just represent something about them. With the combination of avatars I've had, I'm saying that I'm a Yankees fan who listens to Queens of the Stone Age and likes penguins, all the while wearing aviators watching Cowboy Bebop, wearing a Zeppelin t-shirt. As far as the rest of the sexual harrassment goes, it's become a stupid game now, with Zosod's "hottest av" contest, along with the posts of convos by sophalis. To the floppydonky moron, so shit it's easy to piss people off on the internet. Everyone expresses themselves easily cuz no one knows who the other is, and so, when we're free from inhibitions , we can say "you can't do that!" all the while going into taboo area of society. |
