As we wrap up the first quarter of kdice competition under the current scoring rules, I want to give recognition to kdice players of superior skill, especially those who are more recent arrivals to the game. At the end of May I will make a listing of TAPL scorers in three catagories:
1. Top TAPL scorers among players who began playing kdice in May. 2. Top TAPL scorers among players who have been playing kdice since April. 3. Top TAPL scorers among players who have been playing kdice since the scoring change and reset of the Elo's in February. The TAPL is explained in the comment at my profile page. The TAPL and this competition have no official endorsement from Ryan. To qualify for the competition, you must have played at least 35 games. To enter the competition, make a post to this thread. I will reply with a computation of your current lifetime TAPL. At the end of the month I will work up the lifetime TAPL's for all the contests and award certificates. I don't have fancy graphics capabilities like Ryan has for the trophies, but I will issue a certificate that looks like this: 5684 ∫ 1st.∫∫∫ A 3-month TAPL in the 5000's is likely to have a good finish, a 2-month TAPL in the 2000's is a good score, and a 1-month TAPL in the 1000's means you have a good shot for the top spot. |

at 6:39 PM, Friday May 25, 2007 EDT An interesting fact about TAPL: If you were to play 35 games in all 3 months and finish last in every single one signifying that you were the worst player in kdice history your TAPL would be 64,290...the highest one yet by far!!!

at 6:44 PM, Friday May 25, 2007 EDT Oh and in case youre retarted and don't understand my point TAPL IS NOT A MEASURE OF SKILL!!!!!! It is a measure where the highest scores are uneven percentages that is all. You will get a higher score with uneven percentages in all 7 spots regardless of where your percentage is high. The best way to measure skill is not TAPL but the current system in place so forget about these stupid numbers and pay attention to the scores and rankings...those actually measure correctly.

Your total games, lifetime profile, and lifetime TAPL are 383 13% 15% 17% 14% 14% 12% 13% 490 For Pambo: 67 19% 26% 16% 12% 10% 8% 6% 1442 redsox5445: to consistently place only 7th requires skill (and probably some risk-taking by the other players, because taking a player out too soon can weaken one's own game). To the extent that cooperation of other players is needed to finish 7th, the skill is not all your own (but the same could be said about finishing 1st). I have seen good players with 7th place percentages as high as 20%. I have seen first place finishes as high as 50%, but seventh place finishes only as high as 30%. If you think you can do better on the 7th place finishes, you are welcome to try. Pambo: For a large number of games the TAPL approaches a normal distribution but I don't know what the standard deviation is. I think the SAT uses 100 points per standard deviation. So with the correct divisor, the TAPL score could be represented in an SAT format. |
