I admit it was poetic justice. But nothing wrong with truces in general |

at 4:09 PM, Thursday April 26, 2007 EDT Anarki... I agree to your point that 1-2-truces are lame! (except some specific situations)
But I think that there are truces, which would enrich this game a lot. For example if you´ve got a weak situation/position, and your neighbour is in the same position, it could be very smart to ally and have a new chance to win the game. So that´s normaly ma strategy. I don´t try to kill my neighbours, but I´m looking if they could help me to get a better placement or to win the game. And if they´ve got a good situation then as well, it´s a great win-win-situation. But so long other player cry for a counter-truce, I prefer it to do this "unspoken". It´s risky, but I can´t stop. I like this. And I think it´s much smarter to play in teams and to get a good "reputation" then to play this game always alone. `cause this strategy don´t work if you use to play and act like an asshole. But it´s quite conducive if you show some social skills for this... |

sea captain: yup, indeed. a game wihout truces where everyone is chatty is always more fun than a guaranteed defeat in a game with truces. |

at 9:17 PM, Thursday April 26, 2007 EDT Of course, chatty games are always some of the most fun, but, hell, the combination of chatty and allies can be good as well.
In fact, If I'm in first, I hate to be alone, since, if you have played relatively well in the first half of the game, but still are smaller than the rest of the board, you can have quite an awkward situation on hand (I once was truced against by a combined 19 versus my 11) So, since I get my enjoyment out of winning more often, I love truces. I feel VERY secure, in that I won't be pissed if I get punded on by EVERYONE, for no stated , or obvious reason. |
