Flagging is a means of stealing 2nd. Practically speaking, it usually is like a truce with 1st. Others will then jump on board, killing game initiative.

I love Ryan's summation. There is simply no mechanism in the game for what I call "directed flagging".

"I flag to red and purp" means nothing. You flag because you quit and you want the game to end.

To be fair, his quote was in response to an older, different, flagging system.
