22% of the time, you only need 3 dice to kill off the 5. 17% of the time, you'll need 2 4v5 tries so 6 dice. So in 39% of 2 attacks, you beat the 5. In 13,4% of the cases, you'll need 3 tries (9dice). 10,4% for 4 tries; 8,1% for 5 tries etc etc if you take into account every possible scenario, you will need 13 dice on average to kill a 5 with 4s.
