WTF?#1:Bad Starts

So, a common gripe with all players is bad starts and groupings of dice. So, what do you do when you open up with all thee stacks on opposite sides? Or a player 5v5's you leaving you with a meager collection of two and three stacks? Or just as bad: A decent start with good stacks, but you're surrounded by equal or taller dice.

My basic strategies:

1. Since your first goal is to connect to get some ground, find your tallest stack. Usually, luck won't be too cruel to you and you'll have at least a three to work off of. Search for an easy win, like a 3v1 or a 4v2, and start from there. But beware: watch out if you're between another player's connecting path or next to a taller stack. Usually restacks are kind.

2. Just restack. Sometimes, the action will play out and you will find yourself with a wasteland of lost attacks from surrounding players that are open for you to claim.

3. Go for broke. If what's separating you from a good connect is a four or five stack and you have equal or one under, shoot yer' dice and pray. you'll be surprised.

Add more strategies and tactic please!

I beg to differ.

To me these strategies sound like ninja-all-or-nothing attack methods, whoch I hate...

First of all, I should have used bullets. Secondly, the ninja-all or nothing is only a last resort strategy. I listed them in order of importance as far as most likely to work versus least likely. And I meant "go for broke" as in just take the chance with an undesired roll. Kdice works that way, or else we'd all be playing the same game we started with. Action has to happen.

So, any more ideas?

If I have a large stack on one end, and it might hold against an attack or two, I like to leave it be. I'll take a smaller stack and grab one easy territory, or connect to another. That way I will get 2 or 3 dice in my restack. If luck is with me, they go to my largest (and as yet, unused) giving me an advantage there. The rest are throw aways. If the restack goes to the 2 or 3 territories, then they are reinforced and I can hold there.

If connection is almost impossible, I won't rely on luck. I'll hold off gaining new territories to keep from diluting my restack locations (options), and hope for a higher density restack.

Then I blow it all by saying something stupid like I love you.
