I'm not quite sure what you mean by this, exactly. The only way flags actually WORK at the moment is by ending the game with the current positions, because everyone agrees it's inevitable that's the way it's going to end. They just cut down a boring endgame.

Flagging saves time. There is no way I want to fight another player for a half an hour just to get first or second place. Sometimes you know you cant win.
