at 11:08 PM, Thursday January 11, 2007 EST In most cases, the 7th player is the guy which had a very bad placement, few unlucky rolls during startup or some tough neighbors surrounding his 5 tiny countries. So, it is possible that a good player loses in the very first round just because of bad luck and then his hard earned points fly away. Not fair. The scoring system must reflect skill and strategy as much as possible and the luck factor in score calculation must be cast out as much as possible.

at 11:40 PM, Thursday January 11, 2007 EST well check my profile. I am 1st or 2nd almost half of the games, and then 7th in 20% of the games. How do you explain that? I say bad rolls.

at 12:23 AM, Friday January 12, 2007 EST Likely really aggressive in the first round. I'm not saying you do it but some people attack as much as possible in first round and if no one bothers to attack back they can coast to victory.

Look also in the statistics of the other players! |

at 10:32 AM, Friday January 12, 2007 EST I'd have to agree with burkaygenc, I just played in a table where he was in as well. When it was my turn I had to start with 1 area which had only 3 dices on it. I played aggressive by conquering 2 other areas but I was gone by the 3rd round.
I don't think the score of the 7th player should be ignored, because people might try to end 7th rather than 6th. But there has to be some kind of solution. |

at 11:02 AM, Friday January 12, 2007 EST I agree with the basic idea behind this, but it I don't think it would work. All the players with less-than-optimal early-game positions would desperately go into suicide mode to be the seventh player.

at 3:52 PM, Friday January 12, 2007 EST you are beginners burkaygenc & Rebrowse: you realize soon when you cant win a game, so you have to alter your strategy. With your idea I'd almost have a ranking of 50% 7th and 50% 1st or 2nd....
