the game would slow down too much, and become more like risk instead of what it actually is. I vote no.

Ryan should make a risk version. I recommend nrisk.

Just give everyone like .5 seconds per dice to allocate half your dice. If you meet that time limit you get another .5 seconds per dice to do the rest. Otherwise allocate the remaining dice automatically.
