I am color deficient - I have trouble distinguishing some shades. It's hard to strategize, can we pick colors that are easier to distinguish for people like me?

at 11:00 AM, Saturday April 21, 2007 EDT Primary colors are good. A lot of people are red-green color blind. Also, shades that are close on the color wheel tend to be harder to distinguish.
I would gladly help select a palette if desired. |

at 11:11 AM, Saturday April 21, 2007 EDT It's honestly not hard to find a suitable palette. You just need someone who knows what combinations to avoid, and pick colors that don't look like one another to people who have troubles.

at 1:59 PM, Saturday April 21, 2007 EDT a non color version could be substituted for people with problems it could go white, light grey, dark grey black, black white verticle stripe, black white horrizonal stripe, and splotchy. If a person had trouble they could just click an option box or something and use the substitue mode. I admit this scheme isnt without its problems though

scuba1, what are its problems? |

at 6:03 PM, Saturday April 21, 2007 EDT There's no need for a non-color scheme. It's very rare for someone to be truly color blind (i.e. seeing in only black and white). It's much better just to pick appropriate colors.

at 10:42 AM, Sunday April 22, 2007 EDT It's simpler than just primary colors. Primaries are easy to distinguish, so they are good choices in general. But it's just a matter of avoiding some color combinations in favor of others. If you've ever seen those color splotch tests you might have a better idea of what I mean.
