Have a set value scoring system:
+3 for 1st place, +2 for 2, +1 for 3, 0 for 4, -1 for 5, -2 for 6, and -3 for 7th place. Therefore high players are not timid about playing with lower players because of the score, you don't need rating tables, and everyone has a fair shot at playing everyone. YET, the good players will still have high ratings due to their skill. Everyone wins! |

at 2:33 AM, Tuesday January 9, 2007 EST This is actually a good idea, but scores should be reset first. This is a better set of values though:
1st: +12 2nd: +6 3rd: +3 4th: 0 5th: -3 6th: -6 7th: -12 |

at 4:14 PM, Tuesday January 9, 2007 EST I don´t think so! the current rating system is one of the fascinating parts of this wonderful game!
Your idea is so easy - you don´t think they didn´t thought about it before you came to tell it to us??? Please look onto wikipedia and search the ELO - rating system... Then you will understand it! I hope... Greetings Dave |

at 5:45 PM, Tuesday January 9, 2007 EST Your system is silly for the following reason;
Good players will only play with bad players, at least if they're interested in ratings. This way, ratings mean nothing, the ones with the highest are just the ones exploiting the system. Why not make it so you can't play bad players, you ask? That defys the point of your system, which was made so that they could play bad players. |
