I hate em. I always ally or truce with my biggest near threat. If I have two big threats close to me, such as being in a threat sandwich, I just had that happen, I allied with the weaker one and won in the end. If I am in a game, and two large threats ally against one another as I would do, I rally as many others as I can to ally against them, and this has worked also (though don't expect first.. you do live longer). Unfortunate positions, weaker positions, I don't ally with no matter how much I like the person. People who pre-ally with their buddies do so at their and their buddies' own peril, because I've seen it work out to weaken them both when one should have devoured the other in the beginning. Don't let it bother you when it work for them; due to random dice placement in the beginning, it is rare.
