Last game there were only 3 of us left, i defeated one of the other 2 who got +46 points and then all of the sudden turned into red (who was long dead). The other player flagged for defeat and so did red, red got 3rd place a second time but this time he got +128 points, so thats +172 points in a singele game where he died twice.
Maybe this is something you should look into, it could be some kind of bug :/ |

A player gets killed and he finishes 7th. He gets - 20 points or something. Yet after that, he still stays in the game (you can still see his avatar with) and gets another turn with 0 dice and 0 territories. After that turn he dies again and gets +0 points.. |
