A question of ethics, and group PGE

Lately, the question of ethics and rules has come up frequently on the practice of group PGE, and whether it should be allowed.

Seen most frequently, is at the 0 table, where there is generally a group understanding to work together to kill the robot first, and then the humans fight.

This is also frequently seen in tournaments, most notably when players such as sajacakdjlfa or Colonia are sitting. As these players have are prone to backstabbing, ignoring flags, or not paying attention in general, they've accrued a lot of enemies. As such, the (enemy of my enemy is my friend) aspect of the game seems to show up a lot.

For example, if I'm sitting at a table with Colonia and any of Colonia's other PGE's, I will naturally work with them to kill Colonia. Colonia's accrual of multiple PGE's results in him frequently being eliminated first on a table. After Colonia is dead though, we have no allegiance to each other.

My question to the community; are there any ethical or rule based issues with this behavior, or is this a natural consequence of making lots of enemies?

My person take, is that working with other players for the purpose of killing a common enemy, rather than for the purpose of winning points, is perfectly acceptable.

What say you?

I kill the bot first, then humans. The co-op against a brutally fast player makes for a fun time, and it helps human players churn kill points from the bot.

Besides that, I kill sajacakdjlfa because he's a backstabbing piece of shit.

Colonia just hides behind flags in corners and pretends to be dead, hoping others die before him. Every damn tournament.

I feel that if players (or their alts) develop a bad reputation and enemies through repeated poor behavior and bad sportsmanship, then deserve it in return.

Otherwise, try to treat others how you want to be treated.

Not a pga clan, colonia. Mass PGE clan. Our only mission is to pge you. Then we fight each other.

After you and sally are out of the tournament, everyone plays normally.

I think it's perfectly fine for a group PGE especially since we have a lack of mods.

When a player like Avigdor is consistently breaking the rules (proxy/hate language), we had a group of players to PGE him. If we had mods, it would have been easier to have him just banned, but the group PGE was the best way we had to counter the behaviors.

In cases like Colonia, there has to be a reason why so many people PGE him (I do not). Is Colonia annoying? Yes. If a group of people want to work together to knock him out of tournaments, I do not see an issue with this, this is not against the rules.

Colonia, you have to had attacked Fiero many times in tournaments when he had flagged. Can you just apologize to him and then we can move on to less people PGEing you?

Basically, I gave colonia a dozen warnings for backstabbing. He will flag or accept a flag, and then cut me or kill me. Always the same response "not paying attention".

So, after a final warning, he flagged me and then knocked me out of a tournament several rounds later... and refused to apologize. That was the final straw. lifetime pge unless he apologizes.

I'm not interested in his "wasn't paying attention, no big deal" nonsense.

Thanks for starting this discussion Fiero.

First of all, in my book PGE is against the rules as it is a game to game favor with a negative sign. It is not too much different from PGA.

As I have stated many times and done myself, a short term revenge for a felt insult or betrayal is fine. Get the sucker and kick his ass - after that, return to normal. I think that is very human behavior.

If actions in this game influence your life and thinking for days or weeks, you should really think about this. I know I hate the sentence, but it is a game after all. I can get very upset here (guess you knew that) and totally lose my line - yet this is over shortly. It does not effect my real life. If you cannot make that distinction, seek support.

Regarding the named players, it is true they all did work to get the enemies they got. Nevertheless, neither Saj nor Colonia are funneling, pga-ing, teamplaying or alike. They are not too critical with language and insults unless you feel touched by some "on cheese". So a ban is not reasonable, even if there were more mods. Avigdor is a different topic.

The group here has to react to teamplaying. It has to somehow educate bad players. It also has to be careful to not scare new players away. The player base is too small.

That said it is clear that we do need more mods, best a lot of them to filter out the not good ones later, to fight funneling and teamplaying. And, even more urgent than that, we do need chatting on for new accounts. Neither Saj no Colo are the worst problems of this site.
