so, i still feel like people are cheating. and w.e its a dice game with virtual points...but its a thing. is there any way we can stop the lag cheat? srsly... its just annoying.
Jurgen has told me to provide proof but i have no proof bc i have to refresh and the refresh takes forever and most of the time it is too late and the game is over and i cant get the replay link to share. and yes that was a run on sentence to convey my frustration. can someone just look into it? if not, ill just accept it as a part of the game and stop whining about it. |

at 2:38 AM, Wednesday March 2, 2016 EST I wasn't sure if the run on sentence continued into the last paragraph. You included a full stop but didn't capitalise the first letter of the following word. Which way does the biscuit crumble?
BTW last night Jurgen was responsible for a major lag event. I don't think he is the saviour you seek. |

at 6:45 PM, Thursday March 3, 2016 EST there has been lag, on all sites, it's not a concerted effort by one (or a group) of individuals.

at 8:12 PM, Thursday March 3, 2016 EST imalady, I really feel sorry you feel that way and I wish I could either find the guilty people (if there were some) or help you get rid of that bias (in case it's just random lags). Whatever is happening, please don't let it ruin your kdice fun.
I'm convinced that people have tried it as a cheating tactic on Kdice but tbh, I don't think it ever really worked well. A few months ago, because there were some serious (random) lag issues on all sites + someone on gpokr trying to attack Ryan's server, Ryan worked really hard on improving the server stability. So I would say it's virtually impossible to lag someone out on Kdice but with all those internet nerds out there, I'm sure some could succeed if they wanted to. what I meant with get proof is: try and help us as much as you can by saving game replays of games where you experienced suspicious lags. It's pretty hard to prove that someone is doing this so we need hard evidence. I've tried to look for patterns in these lags at times where I feel multiple people complain at the same time. You never see the same person benefiting over and over so you can't really accuse someone. In short: it's not that we (I) are ignoring this potential problem, it's just that it looks very random and so far no specific accounts seem to benefit all the time |

at 3:12 AM, Friday March 4, 2016 EST From my understanding there is 2 possible ways to achieve a benefit from lags.
1) You lag out all players on all tables (and in all other hosted games) on Ryans servers. This is the more simple version because all it took to arrange it is the IP-address of the server. This is easily to figure out using nslookup. The only thing you need to have then is the means to arrange a DDOS-attack on that IP-address. 2) You want to have one specific player in one game on one table to lag. This is much harder to do. You would need to know the IP-address of that players computer in order to launch the already mentioned DDOS-attack on him. This IP-address could be gained from the serverlogs or else by supervising the server's communication. In either way I would not know how to do it without actual access to the server. Of course you could attack and probably hack the server - this should be detectable in most cases. The other possibility is that you have this access already because you are a mod... From my thinking both versions require a significant level of criminal energy and intention. You would need the means to make DDOS-attacks. This requires some financial involvement or the skill to build your own bot-network. And all this for virtual points that get set to 0 latest 30 days after you gained them? Summary: Lags are shit, but they are random. I do not believe anybody spends the effort, time and money it would take do instanciate them on a quite meaningless game like this. |

at 10:36 AM, Friday March 4, 2016 EST 1) like I tried to explain before, it's not impossible (any site can be attacked if the attack is clever and large enough) but it's not as easy as it used to before (can't explain why for obvious security reasons)
2) this is "easier" but you still need to find the other player's IP and you really need a lot of hacking skills to do this (+ have the software to IP bomb) my guestimate is that maybe a few ppl on kdice could do this if they really wanted to, but I think most of these few ppl wouldn't actually try it |

at 11:29 AM, Monday March 7, 2016 EST Thanks for the responses. After the explanation of how a person would be ABLE to intentionally make me lag out...I hope that KDice isnt that important to anyone. hehe.
I hereby accept that lags are lags and thats ok. Signed, Lady |
