I do think this is a terrible idea. Jurgen is a longtime experienced mod perfectly able to introduce new ones to the job. Also he has spend an amount of time into that job hardly anybody else would. He seems to be taking some time of, might have found fun and occupation outside kdice. Good for him - so if he stepped down I'd understand. But without any big mistakes and stuff I see no reason to remove him.

Of course his experience is a problem for returning cheaters since they are caught more quickly. I don't see that as a negative though.

Everyone who could make a reasoned argument in favor of his removal has stopped playing the game. Ryan should think about that.

Still waiting for Jurgen to make me a mod

jurgen changed the culture of the game, for better or worse. He didn't even need to win hearts and minds.

Taking mod advice from fiero/NightFury is like...any number of really horrible analogies. It would actually be a fun thread to have people suggest the most appropriate one.

an FYI for the newer KDicers, Nightfury is a former mod who got removed by Ryan for abusing his powers. His old account fiero600 also got permanently banned and retired because he admitted to all his cheating. Too bad he didn't stop cheating and scheming afterwards but that's another story.

Anyway, fresh pairs of eyes never hurt...if they're qualified for the job. I suggested quite a few people to Ryan as potential candidates in the last few years so it's not like I'm desperately hanging on to my own power and try to block new additions. Thanks to some former mods (including Nightfury) abusing their powers, Ryan became very reluctant to add new mods. Tbh, I became more sceptical too after my failed experiment with BigdaddyKane as mod.

Don't worry, I'm not going to be one of those mods who desperately hangs on to his mod badge. When I feel I'm doing a bad job or when I don't have the time or motivation to mod anymore, I'll resign. I took my first real break after 5 years of modding and tbh it felt nice :).
