Can someone please explain farming

Noob Question
It seems like every time I win at a 500+ table, somebody gets pissed and starts talking about farming. Can anyone explain? Thanks. |

As far as I've been able to determine, dominance points are awarded or revoked at the beginning of every turn after turn 8. The amount of "dominance points" you are entitled to at the beginning of your turn is a function of the % of the board that you control at the beginning of your turn, averaged over the past 8 turns. so, if people have flagged you and they continue to grow, while you stagnate because you have stopped growing, you will lose dominance points over the coming turns.. Likewise, if you continue to grow by eating grey or by eating other players, then the other players will lose dominance points over the coming turns, as their historical share of the board shrinks. This is completely OK by the rules, but is frowned upon socially as "farming for DOM". |
