American team = The one from the USA (selección de los Estadios Unidos) The Americas = North + South America (América) Just admit to yourself that the adjective Unitedstatesian would feel horribly wrong on so many levels - it might make it easier to accept that America will refer to the country in English. |

The Dempsey goal wasn't luck - it was straight moxie 30 seconds into the game. The set piece goal in the 86' wasn't luck - though Ghana conceded a fairly weak corner to set it up. I will say the USA played WAY to much packed-in and the left back struggled all damn game long. Could Ghana have scored more? Certainly. But with the Americans' best striker going down at the 20' mark with a leg injury, I don't see how the "luck" involved was one-sided. Ghana dominated possession, but did very little with it - hardly any of their chances were on goal and most of their crosses were swept away by US centerbacks. |
