Last day on kdice

Some of you may know me, most probably not. I've been here pretty much since the beginning, not playing every day or even every month, but playing regularly. I'm not even that bad at it although I never let points get in the way of a good game. I've always tried to be civil although I'm sure some of you have caught me on bad days.

Kdice is a good game. It's a great combination of luck and strategy. In the short run bad luck can throw you for a loop, but in the long run good strategy should always win out. But it's not like that anymore. A single player with a good understanding of the game, has no chance against a table full of starred players who regularly play with each other and have the blanket understanding that they will fight each other (or roll off when they are lazy) after they have worked together to vanquish all of the players that they do not know.

I can build a strategy that will compensate for bad rolls, bad restacks and bad starting positions, but I can't compensate for gangs of players who already have 1000s of points silently agreeing to go after me in the 3rd or 4th round. If I were writing this in any other gaming forum people would call me paranoid or petulant, but here I think most of you know what I am talking about.

Fellow victims probably aren't involved enough in the game to visit the forums. Those of you who are not victims will probably claim "it's part of the game." Sure it is. It's part of the game the same way that keeping an ace up your sleeve is part of poker, or intentionally injuring a rival player is part of football.

I have friends in this game. I have people who I'm always happy to see join the game. I do not have allies. I will give no consideration to a friend above what is fair. Never. I have never entered a truce unless it was to defend against another truce. I have never cooperated with a player because of who they were. Up until a while ago, most players followed the same code.

Today I realized that about 40% of the time that I play kdice I left with a bad taste in my mouth. Even when I won there was very little satisfaction.

If you still enjoy the game then congratulations. I can't.

Bullshit. If you have friends, you favor them, if you don't have friends, you're a psycho-loser.

Carnifexxx - I totally agree with what you are saying.

And this is by no means new. The difference is, that with no table-limits active any more, the shit is coming to the low tables. Usually you stayed at 500 where enough people were around to avoid the gangs (you know whom not to sit with). The shit was at 2/5k. Now it can be everywhere.

Silent truces - ok to some degree. Trucing - fine if anounced. But both must be possible at turn 1 with all players sitting and be done to mutually benefit. If I know I am to truce that one guy 95% before the game starts, that's shit - and it is what we got.

Old trusted friendships can't be avoided. I'll let some people kill my for 50 and flag out with others winning. I might skip a pointless attack knowing some player that I might have taken with somebody else. That's to some degree human nature and can't/shouldn't be avoided as the game has a social impact as well. But I'll also kill that player if it's possible - that's often missing.

I hope you reconsider and stay. I did get medals for a while, partly for being lucky, partly probably for being better networked, mostly for being a tool that was given a white one for cooperating at other occasions most likely. You take 3rd or 4th with small wins and losses a couple of times you'll get a 1st now and then - it sums up to top 100.

Personally I hope that a) you reconsider leaving and give it another try after some time and b) that table limits are set again so the medal-craving cheating pack can have their party at 2k and above while the rest is trying to have some fun at 500 and below.

BTW, the comments before mine are very well representing the respect shown to others by those that think they dominate or rule this game due to their lack of sportsmanship and excessive cheating..
