Error in restacking

Hi there. I've noticed recently that the restacking does not always work properly when not all fields are connected but blamed it on me being too drunk to count or anything...

However, I've just had a can of coffee and feel more relaxed than ever but witnessed the following:

1. I am fully stacked (all 8s)
2. I have 5 connected fields and a disconnected single field.
3. I have +2 dice

So now I go ahead and use my island to attack an enemy 8v8. I fail. Naturally, I should go back to fully restacked (5 connected fields +2 dice = the 7 dice i need). However, the island field only restacks to 7. Guess it's an error in the programming.

Hope this can easily be fixed.

Thanks and cheers

I would have to make a video of it, as still picture wouldn't do either (:

Yeah, I was hoping a developer could check the code for it or anything.

congrats, you successfully brought me out of my self-inflicted -post.

either you are wrong or there is a bug. if you indeed fail in your attack, then the stack should refill to 8.

HOWEVER, if you WIN the attack, the stack should only refill to 7. this is a common miscount, even among people who have played for thousands of games (i once witnessed MadHat_Sam do it without realizing the consequences.) anyways, if you WIN, then you need EIGHT dice to refill, 7 for the terr you attacked from, and 1 to the terr you successfully attacked. however, you won't have 8 dice to restack, but only 7, because you didnt add territory to your main base, you only added to an island.

so a bit of advanced arcane strat to all you young dicers out there: if you ever see a potential island-based-cut on your enemy, make sure that you have +8 dice to refill, not the standard +7. really, its a common miscount.

and alex, youre a moron.

Say what monte?

Thanks Monte, very compelling analysis.

I wish I had thought of that myself right away, as my memory might be clouded on hindsight. Maybe I in fact did win the 8v8 but due to the 'wrong' restacking felt like I lost it?? (:

I'll try to recreate such a situation.

Thanks again. Cheers

This is what monte said, diceTD:
When you attack from your base (say you have a base of 5, an island, and +2, as in the case of the original post), and lose, you only need +7 to refill that one territory. When you win a roll, you need +7 for the previous territory and +1 for the new territory. But because you just won and your base is now 6, you get 6+2 so you have the 8 you need.
However, if you attack from the island and win, your base is still only 5, so you only have 7 dice with which to fill your stacks.

From another perspective:

if you win, your 8stack splits up into a 1 on the old land + a 7 on the new land --> you need 8 dice to make 2 8stacks

if you lose, your 8 becomes a 1stack so you only need 7 to restack the 1 to an 8

All credits to the one and only amazing monte-oracle for spotting the potential reason, I hadn't thought of it

Ok, we might as well come clean... You see Peter, I told you Monte would take the bait and come out of his - post mode
