Tourney strat

As you know I am still a newer player, I like to play tournies, but find people throwing the "tourny strat" line around all the time, Also have not figured out how points work, as I can sometimes get more in 3rd then 2nd.
So I took the time to go through a lot of forum, and strategies, and really came up empty handed, so I figure if people could even give me pointers or lay down a couple of the tourney strats down for me, So I can do better, I would really appreciate it :) Thank you |

at 6:10 PM, Saturday September 4, 2010 EDT Tourney Strat basically means do whatever is most self-beneficial...this can mean knocking someone out, making someone 4th in order to get more points for 1st, etc. These are actions that most people wouldn't usually do in a regular game, but since it is a tournament and all about survival, anything goes.
As far as how the points work, I'm sure you've noticed that each round has a different points level. This is the # of points that you are risking. As the tournament progresses, some people will have as many points as the level, while others will not. So if we are playing at the 300 point level, and you only have 50 points, you only get 50 points for 1st. This means if I am in 2nd or 3rd that game, and I have 450 points, I will gain a lot of points. Depending on who is in 1st-3rd, sometimes 4th place can gain more points than them too. |
