"Alternative skill" is calculated as following: played games/100 * PPG100 * 1st%*4 + 2nd%*3 + 3rd%*2 + 4th%*1 + 5th%*0 + 6th%*(-1) + 7th%*(-2) |

Thanks a lot skrum, I really appreciate (even though it took me ages to notice). |

The correct "formula" should look like this: played games/100 * PPG/100 * 1st%*4 + 2nd%*3 + 3rd%*2 + 4th%*1 + 5th%*0 + 6th%*(-1) + 7th%*(-2) It was basically an attempt to create a simple skill ranking system which rewards players who are able to maintain a high PPG over many games, as well as the skill to finish in good positions such as 1st/2nd/3rd. Oh, and now you also know to who this account belongs. (You were asking me a year ago). |

at 12:28 PM, Friday June 25, 2010 EDT right you did that thread about the most skilled kdicer.
the thing is that (leaving tourneys out of the consideration) PPG = points/games played. Therefore the term games played/100 * PPG/100 which is just 1/10000 * games played * PPG becomes 1/10000 * games played * points/games played which is 1/10000 * points since the games played cancel. So basically your formula does not take into account the PPG at all. What is does is it multiplies your points divided by 10000 with a weighted sum of your percentage profile. If you want the PPG to have an effect on your AS (alternative skill) you should not have games played and PPG in the same product. |

Where is he going to get the data for points? Not from the player's total score, because that includes tourney points, which are to be intentionally excluded. So games*PPG/10000 is the way to go. |

at 1:37 PM, Friday June 25, 2010 EDT Since merlin/moon thought that his ranking takes into account a players PPG, i felt obliged to tell him that this is not the case. That was the point of my post. I dont know exactly what you think i was trying to say.

He said "high PPG over many games". Equals points. Equals good player. If you think PPG isn't needed, duplicate moondust's list without using PPG. |

"If you think PPG isn't needed" i never said that. why would you say assume that i think PPG isnt needed? |
