Here's a thought for you:

Can some of you tell me why it is ok for you to have those trophies knowing the fact that sometimes you do PGA with each other?? This was the first month I thought I might have had a chance but now seriously doubt it now. I try so hard to get one and every month I see just about the same names on that leaderboard. I'm just about ready to say I quit; but won't because I have so many people w/ trophies that I call friends.

All I am asking is this; someone give me advice on when is the best time to play and who to really call a friend?

Be social, be talkative. Those two things will do wonders for you once you get to the 500, 2k and 5k tables. The game stops being so much about strategy (most everyone on the upper level tables has that) and much more about diplomacy. I tend to find the daytime (server time) folks are usually fair folks.

but why is that the answer? What other game/sport is determined by who you know or how well you can "sell" yourself in a chat?

pathetic.. thats y ppl hate this game now.

If you want to just play strategy alone, play DiceWars. Really this game is only so much strategy, and once you learn it diplomacy is all that is left.

if there is no diplomacy, why would anyone want to play a game that relies solely on who gets the lucky start and avoids losing unlucky rolls? id rather have an aspect of the game that doesnt rely completely on random numbers.

no matter how much diplomacy you put into kdice, it will always require more strategic thinking than dicewars. i could play 20 consecutive games of dicewars and win them all.

telling somebody, who just complained about the lack of strategy in this game, to play dicewars is therefore bad advice.

i agree with shev on that point. but i think the reason the chatbox/social aspect of the game is included is because that drives the site more than the strategy/competition aspect. more people play because they enjoy the community than because they want to fight a more realistic AI.

lol at using humans to get a more realistic artificial intelligence.

i agree with your point though

Don't give up hope man. I have 0 friends and currently have a top 100 ranking. All you got to do is play strategically and take note of which players pga when you see them. Also try to remember who you can trust and who plays honorably, and play in the same tables as them.

Also make sure you are aware of that thread entitled "common misconceptions about the current flagging system". After I read that I really understood how to play this game and when to and when not to accept flags.

If you accept insanely early flags you are just asking for disaster. (not talking about tourny play)

Good luck.
