honest question: is scheming good for kdice?

ive had my fair share of scheming. i was part of the original cabal. i was part of the flagfest for integral. i AIM pga'd with wish two times in january. i tried to funnel points to chris0123 in one game in march. however, i have come to the conclusion that scheming sucks and is detrimental to the game and the community.

alas, i must admit that i agree with leekstep (dear god, help us all): i believe the game should not include favors carried over from one game to the next. i believe each game should be played fairly.

most of all, i think scheming should become a bannable offense. scheming involves AIMing, PGAing, abusing loopholes, funneling points, community accounts, and who knows what else.

there are groups of kdicers who, at the beginning fo each month, get together and decide how to mess up kdice, or how to outglory the last gloriously annoying scheme from the previous month.

but i was told by someone high up recently that scheming is actually good for the site, and it creates drama, which draws in more traffic. the reason the schemers scheme are many fold: 1) to showoff to each other, 2) to fuck Ryan, 3) to show Ryan which loopholes he needs to close off, 4) to win more.

i dunno, i guess i would rather have less traffic with no scheming than more traffic with idiots running around wreaking havoc.

i just want to know what the kdice community wants. do they want schemes with drama or do they want simple gameplay?

well, since I feel somewhat targeted, I'll say this much:
1) when Ryan is involved in the scheming and drama, it's going to trinkle down to kdice players. Sorry but that's just like a rule of gravity, physics, or some shits.
2) now that Monte wants to play nice, everyone should follow his lead? That's what this post sounds like. I don't think it's fair.
3) Drama is what makes kdice interesting, although last month was over the top. Last month felt like it was some 10th yr anniversary BS!
4) I think community accounts should be allowed, as long as they get tanked regularly =D
5)Personally, Everything evil I've done was for a good purpose. Therefore it's righteous. JK! But I like that thought, I may adopt that as a personal motto. But on a more sincere note, it is impossible to get rid of pgaing. It's human nature to be nicer to people you recognize. There's chemicals in your brain that are automatically reactive and affect you physiologically and psychologically, when you see a face, thing, or in this case, an avatar, that you recognize. So unless Ryan knows how to change brain chemicals then "PGA is here to stay." OR HE COULD ALWAYS BAN EVERYONE...it'll be July 08 again!

There are a large number of people who make no serious effort to reach the top ranks specifically because those tables are rife with "scheming." Most get up there once, realize they either have to join the circle jerk or get demolished and never bother again.

Less traffic with less BS would be nice, but this website is hardly a non-profit venture. Whatever brings the dollar wins.

The game is a beautiful thing played the way it was intended to be played - for individual fun and glory.

It's inevitable that relationships are formed with others over time, especially fellow addicts - who all happen to be pretty good - or talented enough at the game to consistently join the ranks of the top (lets be generous) 500 or so players, on a regular basis.

The problem has nothing to do with communication. I use AIM and talk to a few close kdice friends and I see nothing wrong with that. I at no point show any favors any of them during actual gameplay.

The thing is JUST that. This game is founded on fun gameplay, and on communication. Talking isnt the problem, it's the mindset that cheating is cool - in any way shape or form.

It's kinda like shooting some hoops with your buddies after school - you dont play softer or give them favors because you know them - in fact, you have MORE fun rubbing it in their face when you do win ;)

I dunno - communication / aim / isnt the problem at all, nor could it ever be monitored in any real way. The problem is scheming, plotting or anything that manipulates how points are gonna be dealt out in games.

This game is fun... it's HELLAFUN.
I'm glad youre sorta going over to the Grun school of thinking about kdice, monte :) It's been fun watching you progress since I first saw ya play at the "big boys" table. (you called it that)

If awards were based on averages, not totals, there would be less incentive to scheme in individual games because the scheming, to pay off, would have to be done over a large number of games and it would be more noticeable.

Uh wait, are there actual schemes going on? Every "scheme," i've been on has been something dumb like "lol guize les pga me 2 1st," or "oh man we should totally make people think ryan is RACIST."

Smitri you seem to be describing discontent not for the schemes (of which I don't think you were aware of) but rather the way the game is played at the higher tables - the "circle jerk," which montecarlo essentially specializes in.

The end result is the same whether it's the "cabal" crap or something more spectacularly drama inducing (like last month).

" i guess i would rather have less traffic with no scheming than more traffic with idiots running around wreaking havoc. "

I second that. Although they don't really wreak havoc cause nobody really cares... they're desperate for an ego boost (for what's lacking in their real life?), and think people on this site care about them. The actual game is thousands of times more interesting than their scheming.

I went to a few tables to ask if people knew what happened last month:

Ryan: anybody here know what happened last month?
Axel: hi
Axel: what do you mean?
Axel: did we forgoet your birthday?
Ryan: in kdice
Axel: something unusal happened?
GadjettsLover: unbanned?
GadjettsLover: several players?
Ryan: that was this month they got unbanned... do you remember who?
Ryan: just curious
Axel: no idea
Axel: first time i hear that someone was banned
Ryan: what about mods? and buying points? any news?
GadjettsLover: i like mods
nova83tx: isn't there a forum for these types of questions
Ryan: lol... ok ok.. I'm just asking to prove a point
Axel: :-)

Ryan: does anybody here care about what happened in kdice last month?
Ryan: just curious
theodosius: what happened?
Bonman: Is it scandelous?
Ryan: not really, scandelous
theodosius: what happened?
Ryan: kinda boring, but i think some people think its more exciting

I think these schemes only affect are are of interest to less than 50 people. Kdice sees 8k people in a day who care about the game and maybe 10 who care about their poor ego.
