After all that public annoyence, I think we must Ryan ask to repair the damage his wierd donation=points system has created!
So vote here! Who wants to reset the last point additions, caused by the bribes? |

Bomb is the real April winner. Tons of eternal disrespect (or something like that) for the first place buyers wishbone and dicegirl. Rifty |

at 5:18 AM, Thursday May 1, 2008 EDT Wether point buying is a good thing for kdice or not is another question. You can change it back for the months to come maybe but I don't think you can change it after the end of the month. changing rules afterwards can be unethical too.
Although Ryan never explained the new system (or confirmed wether it was permanent or just a bug.... it would have been better but he can't be forced to explain all his descissions so i accept that) it was clear from day 1 or 2 that point buying was possible. Every winner will have pro's and con's, some people will object to a winner who plays 1500+ games, some to a winner who buys his points,or to a winner who only relies on lots of friends and avoids strong opponents, or to a winner who uses the chat window more than his dice to win... I agree buying points is the most difficult of all examples given to accept as a first place winner... but who dares say that wishbone is a bad player, I think nobody will dispute he is a good player (ok with cash to spare but still). In many sports, the team with the most cash or best equipment has a big edge on the competition too. to me it was evident from day 2 someone would "buy" 1st. Maybe it is a good thing, just to show how ludicrous it can become. I don't object to point buying but it should be limited to say 8 stars (20k won't get you a blue medal). and it would be a good thing to counterbalance it by giving extra monthly starting points for medals earned (200 for each white, 500 for each blue medal,1000 for 3rd place, 2000/3000 for 2nd and 1st. That way, all that hard work (apparently some people call it hard work) will finally be rewarded by more than just a shiny medal. OK, consider this my monthly contribution to the I like/hate this months winner debate |

at 5:27 AM, Thursday May 1, 2008 EDT Quite frankly jurgen my dear, thats a load of tosh.
Buying points to win the competition can not be lumped into the same category as playing losts of games. I could buy Mays competition right now, and you'd think that was that fair? Bomb is the real winner. Twat features wishboner won simply by buying his first place. He'd should be boo'd into non existance, the low life. |

at 5:28 AM, Thursday May 1, 2008 EDT i saw that coming, too.
(so the top 3 at the end of the month wont be decided by luck anymore, but by the wealth of the players... ??! (->>http://kdice.com/discussion/topics/44758253?page=2) and lets say, its really not the sporty way in a competition. even money is needed to keep this site running, it shouldnt really be possible, to decide the end of month in that way!! maybe donating for points works only till 25th of each month, and after that date, pts will add to upcoming month??!! i respect both, wishbone and dicey for being good players, but i dont respect that way of winning! |

at 5:33 AM, Thursday May 1, 2008 EDT jurg has a point and to be honest how everyone wasnt expecting it is beyond me! At the end of the day this is an internet game that people take a bit too seriously....i understand that its not "fair" and bomb "deserved" 1st but its an online game....if ryan has a problem with it then ban him, but people WILL always find a way to bet the system and that is FACT!

at 5:40 AM, Thursday May 1, 2008 EDT Rifty, maybe my personal view was a bit too long or too subtle to get from my post so I will edit it to some key stuff.

CONCLUSION: point buying can be OK but needs limits. Wishbone, Diceygirl or Bombardier are all worthy of 1st but there is only 1 gold medal to give away each month. P.S. I like fish his idea about limiting it to day 25 too. May will probably be the last month where you can buy 1st so empty your bank accounts people! |

"who dares say that wishbone is a bad player" Well, it all depends on how you define "bad", doesnt it? He didnt win by playing at the tables like the rest of us. He won by buying first position on the last day. That makes him a bad player in my book. :) Up the Arsenal Rifty |
