Can someone please explain how the game places extra dice? I can tell you get more the more territories you have, and you can't have more than 8 on one square, but beyond that, I'm clueless. How does the game choose which square to put your extra dice on each turn? Is it just random?

In the solo game this is based on it is random and the amount is based on your largest set of linked spaces.

It appears to place the extra dice preferentially on border territories. Or maybe I'm misperceiving a random event based on what I've paid the most attention to.

I would really like to hear from Ryan on this. I also observed it seems to prefer border territories - even more so if the border is heavily fortified. However, when I have mentioned this during game play, other players tell me it is just random.
